Equation printing errors - Both equation editor and Math Type suff
I have a word document with a few equations in it that require the use of
contour integral signs (i.e. integral signs with circles on them). When I
print them the circle is displaced to the left of the integral sign rather
than centred on it.
This problem occurs when I print to paper and when I use acrobat distiller,
so I assume it has nothing to do with my print drivers and is instead a
problem with Word itself. This occurs when I use both Math Type and Equation

One of my students get the following error message, when trying to a mail
merge with his Outlook Contacts:
"This operation can not be completed due to dialog or database error". We

Word 2000 "restore down" off the screen
I have Win xp. My Office suite is Office 2000. I am operating two screens a
17" Sony and a 15" KDS.
When I restore down a document down to a smaller window, it disapears to the
upper right corner of the screen. I cannot see it at all. When I right
click in the toolbar, I can maximize it, I cannot move or size it. The
curser goes top the upper right portion of the screen and assumes the four
points mode, when I click, the four points mode is replaced by the cursor
arrow.
I use word with my Outlook emailer and the same thing occurs when I am full
screen and I hit the 'Reply','Forward' and 'Reply to all' icons. The
forwarded letter disappears off screen and the only way to work with it is in
the full screen mode. I hope I have given enough information.

Have to kill hidden instance of Word before I can open it
I found recently in attempting to start Word that I could not get it to
launch. I then brought up Task Manager and found an instance of Winword.exe
running even though there was no splash screen or other visible sign that it
was running. I was able to kill the task which then allowed me to start it.
I also found that in some cases closing open IE windows allowed me to start
Word after an unsuccessful prior attempt.

Word quietly crashes when more than one doc is open.
I'm using Word 2003, on XP Professional. Whenever I switch between 2 open
Word docs, Word shuts down. No error message appears, the docs and program
just disappear. When I reopen Word, my docs have been autorecovered. Doesn't
seem to cause any harm, but it's getting annoying.

print an envelope.
HOWEVER, if I go directly into Envelopes and Lables and select print, Word
tries to send the document to the last device I "printed" to, being the Fax

Change Tracking in Comments pane in Word 2003
When change tracking is enabled in earlier versions of word it applies to
comments as well as body text. This means if person A enters a comment
person B cannot change it undetected. This does not seem to be the case in
Word 2003 where you can switch on tracked changes but it doesn't seem to
apply to comments.
This means you cannot rely on the integrity of review comments in a document
which is important in a regulated environment. Anyone know of a way round

2000 word, switched to 2003 , documents won't open? (said virus?)
i used word 2000 for a couple of years and recently switched comps and the
new computer had 2003, but when i moved my files it couldn't be opened in the
new 2003 word and gives me a response that stats: "You may be encoutering
this message because an anti-virus program is not allowing the file to open.
This can be caused by one of two conditions. Either the anti-virus program

Word 97 documents have white blank.
Previously had no problem displaying .doc files with Word 97 SR-2. Now some
document files are displayed (and printed) with a large white "stripe" from
near the top of the page to the bottom. White area is about 2 inches wide by

I have a user that does not see the option to merge to email in Word she
is able to do all the other merges but email is not an option. She is
using Office 2003 updated with the latest Sp's hotfixes etc.... on a

plain text Word 2003 differs from previous version
when sending plain text (formerly text only) work to newspaper employer,
blanks appear for commas when Windows default is choice; ? for apostrophes
when ASCII or MSDOS are choice. In previous version of Word, there was no
problem. What's causing this and is there a fix? What changed? (We have to
transmit in text; newspaper system won't accept Word doc through this method

High CPU usage
Problem when typing an Envelope or Label in Word. During this process the
CPU Usage goes to 100% and stays that way until you click off the envelope
and label window. This is happening on every single workstation. We are
running Word 2000 v9.0.3821 SR-1 on Windows 2000 SP4.

I know this error can sometimes happen for all sorts of reasons but I have
had this error half a dozen times today. Can anyone tell me what might be
causing it?
Here are some things you might need to know:
-I am using Word 2003
-I have Dragon Naturaly Speaking open
-Internet Explorer 6 has given me the same error message and had to close
-I installed (and uninstalled) Spyware Blaster today
I have been using Dragon's voice recognition software for many months
without a problem and for several weeks with Word 2003 without an issue. I've
also run Norton Av 2005, Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot.
Is there anyone who can help?

Finding paragaph marks with ^13 isn't working with wildcards.
I have a brand new Mac OS X, version 10.3.9.
In Microsoft Word, when I try to find paragraph marks with ^13 when
wildcards is checked, it says the pattern match expression is not vaild.
Without wildcards checked, ^13 works fine. And all other codes work fine with
or without widlcards checked.
Does anyone know how I can search on paragraph marks in my version of Word

Table style zeroes the left indent
I am using a style for all tables in the document, specifying that its left
indent should be of a certain amount.
But every time I change text in the table, or on the paragraphs above or
below it (i.e., outside the table), the property for left indentation is set
to 0.
Can anyone help me with that?

Hi,
Im running a terminal server session and using Word, but every time i load
up Word a few documents appear in the document recovery pane. I have tried:
-Deleting the files from the TS
-Saving the files and doing what MSWORD asks
-Removing all temporary files on the TS hard disk
-Deleting all contents of the autorecovery folder
-Changed location of the autorecovery file
The files keep appearing even after i delete and i have no idea how they do
it.
There are no viruses, and the version of word is Word 2003 (11.6359.6360)
SP1 operating on Windows Server 2003 Standard with SP1 running Terminal
Services.

trouble saving in Word
Upon creating a new document in Word 2002, or editing an existing document, I
am having trouble saving the file. I click the disk icon, or File/Save As .
. . and nothing happens. Eventually (after several minutes) I get a message

Add Walla Walla to dictionary to avoid repeated word errors
Every time I type a document with Walla Walla in it, I get a repeated word
error. Since Microsoft and Walla Walla are both in Washington state, can this

Printed document does not match Word version
When I print my document the printed version starts to diverge from the
version I see in Print View in Word. Around page 19 two different printers
start printing a few more lines per page than the page shows in Word.
Eventually, the printed version is on a completely different page than the
Word version. Since I tested this on two different printers, I am guessing
that the doc is corrupted somehow, but I have no idea how.
I would very much appreciate suggestions about repair.

shortcut links. For one user only some of these are not working. They are

How can i speed up opening of a template?
I have created a template with various combo boxes, radio buttons and tick
boxes. It takes around 15 seconds to open a document based on the
template/open the template.
This occurs if the tempalte is saved locally or remotely so thats not the
issue. There are no other performance/Word problems with my machine.
I had coded the template to fill in a combo box when opening but even after
removing that code it is still slow. I have tried the step of copying out the
contents of the template and pasting it into a new one as suggested by a
Microsoft KB article, but this didn't have any effect. Any ideas, or is this
the kind of speed expected with a 4/5 page template?

I am working on a friends computer. I am fairly knowledgable on software and
installations.
I installed Office 2002 for my friend. All applications have the option to
use different fonts, except MS Word. It only has one font available.
I have attempted to repair, install fonts, uninstall/reinstall MS Office,
but still no fonts in MS Word. I have gone into all available options for
font use and can not find how to tell MS Word where to look for more fonts.
How do I get MS Word to properly allow different fonts to be used?
Is there a registry change I can make? Or a hidden option in MS Word?

word 2000 text gone, replaced by code
Hi
I've had this problem a few times. Sometimes when I send a document to the
printer, it causes word to crash - this is probably a corrupt printer driver,
I'm told.
Trouble is, today it happened after I'd sent five pages of dictation to the
printer and wiped the tape the dictation was on. Word crashed and when I
opened it up again and found the document I was working on, prefixed by a
dollar sign, all the text was gone and I was left with a few lines of rounded
squares.
Is there anything I can do to recover the document, or do I have to go on
bended knee to my boss and ask him to re-dictate the five pages?

Startup Task Pane Pains
Hello Folks:
Running Office 2003 Pro on Windows XP w/all SPs & patches installed,
for one particular user we absolutely cannot get the task pane to go
away. We've tried Tools, Options, View and unchecked the Startup Task
Pane box, but when you restart Word, the damnable Startup Task pane
CONTINUES to open, even though the checkbox in Tools, Options REMAINS
unchecked! It is a befuddlement.
We've tried detect and repair, we've uninstalled and reinstalled the
application, all to no avail. This problem is specific to this user -
logging in as administrator, turning off the option in Tools, Options
keeps the Startup Task Pane from opening when Word is launched. I also
tried to customize the installation to remove the startup task pane,
but didn't see it listed as an option.
At this point I'd love to know if there is a registry entry I can
change to permanently disable the startup task pane for all users on
this particular machine, or if there is another fix or work-around I'd
love to know about it.

When one of my user's closes Microsft Word, he gets a pop up box that states
a run-time error -91. Any idea what that is and what causes it.
For some background, we recently, renamed the pdfmaker.doc files to pdf.old
