 - Word Freezing Up My Microsoft Word is freezing up only when I go to copy something into it. I can do all other funtions accept copy. I have reset my computer to an earlier date and it worked ok. The I came back to use Word a few hours later and now I am having the same problem again. Should I delete Word out out and reinstall it or is there a simple fix for this problem?  - How do I workaround the bug of insert page number in Word 2007? In the TR-release of Office 2007 there is a bug: it is impossible to insert a page number in the normal way from the tab Insert, and using Page Number from the group Header & Footer. In the previous release the item Page Number provided a huge amount of options to design and position the page number.  - Commands gone missing! I have somehow lost the "Insert", "Format" and "Tools" Commands (i.e. which open the respective Menus) from the top of the screen in Word 2000. The Knowledge Base suggests I could probably reset the Commands and Toolbars if I could get into the Tools Menu - but that is one of the Commands that has disappeared, so I can't access the Tools Menu!  - Most of HTML doc goes blank Just started using Office 2000 Word last week to create prototype of web page. Noticed last week if Tab key pressed while typing text or to create an indent, page blinked once or twice, then document appeared blank except for very top of document that contains a jpg file and some short text in large font with a shaded background. Select File, Exit, and when asked about Save Changes? answer No. Restart document, everything since last save gone, but at least have the HTML file to continue to work with. This week, avoided ever pressing Tab key, added hundreds of lines of text (bottom of screen says 19 pages in document), 6 images, several tables, hyperlinks to PowerPoint Shows. All that working o.k.. But now when I try to add several blank lines by pressing Enter key or type more than several dozen words or try to add a table or add an image, same scenario as pressing the Tab key last week, screen blinks once or twice, content is gone except for image and large block font with shading at top and blinking cursor flush left margin. Bottom of screen says 19 of 19 as if Word thinks there are still 19 pages of content, but press the Up cursor arrow and it suddenly says 1 of 19 at the bottom of the screen. Press down cursor arrow, it says 19 of 19. No error messages, no application faults, etc. Any thoughts on what may be the problem would be appreciated; estimate it would take me two days to recreate everything I've done so far.  - InsertGraphicalHorizontalLine doesn't work. Hi, posted the problem in parent Word Newsgroup but no effective solution was found. When clicking INSERT LINE at the bottom or Borders and Shades screen from Format menu, instead to open the (fancy) lines list screen, it opens the Insert Picture screen. If launching the InsertGraphicalHorizontalLine command (after inserting it at any menu) it also launch the Insert Picture screen instead. There is no other InsertGraphicalHorizontalLine macro anywhere that could be hijacking the command. The .gif fancy lines images are there in a subdirectory along with the lines.dll, that was also copy from a working machine just to make sure.  - attached files can't be opened We are running Word 2002 on Windows XP (Home). Attached files saved as Word .doc (and copy received OK by sender ) come with "scrambled" letters and can't be opened (are read as .dat with a systems danger warning). The work around is to save the file in Word, re-name to .doc - this restores the file. I don't know the sender's version of Word but it came on a recently purchased laptop.  - Word section breaks Hi all Bit of a problem that's driving me insane. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am formatting a 7 page document and on the last 2 pages i need to make the page margins bigger, and to do that i put in a section break at the end of page 5. When i put the section break in the document page numbers increase to 8 and the footer auto page number also jumps from page 5 to 7. I have tried everything i and all my colleagues knows to no avail. Trying to run Word 2000 from Office 2000 SBE updated through Microsoft to currents standards. Three users are on my home computer. Two users have successful access to Word and have no problem using the program; the third user cannot access Word and starting Word for this user either produces an error message that Word needs to shutdown, or a blue screen error that restarts the computer.  - Embedded Excel file reading as corrupt (but isn't) I embedded an Excel file in a Word document, as I've done many times before. I can double-click and view the file fine, but two colleagues can't. They have been able to open embedded objects in other documents, including ones from me. I recreated the Excel file, resaved, and re-embedded it -- still no luck. The error message they get indicates the file can't be opened. They're asked if they would like to have Microsoft repair the problem.  - Word/Outlook/Excel Freezes after long time idle. Hi All, We are running the above on Terminal Server/Citrix PS4. We have an annoying issue where (seemingly) at random, peoples sessions go into high CPU utilisation when running Word and/or Excel and/or Outlook and/or IE and even sometime Acrobat.exe. I have noticed that this most frequently happens where the user has been away from their desk for 20+ minutes and their session is idle. As soon as they access any of those idle applications, away it goes. Usually its 2 applications going wild at once, both with around 40-50% CPU each. Sometimes CPU Management will contain that useage thereby limiting the carnage, but quite often it doesnt and sends the whole server into la la land. When we manage to kill one of the offending processes, the 'other' one takes over at 100% - so both have to be killed and sometimes a third. I am running: Windows 2003 SP1 Citrix PS4 Enterprise+Rollup Office 2003 SP1 I have not been able to find any errors in event logs or any other evidence as to what is going on, nor have I been able to replicate it (aside from fluke).  - TAB does not advance fields in Forms I have created a simple Form in Word 2002, without using any macros other than TextForm fields and Formula fields with simple calculations, and Calculate on Exit selected. The Form is password protected. Most users have no problems using it. One user, with Word 2003, says that TAB does not advance to the next field. Word tells me that the file is in use by another person or program. However, it isn't. If the counter-argument is that the "AutoList" feature should be the preferred way of making lists, you are still wrong. Users will make lists within the text of a paragraph more often than needing to do the copyright symbol. For example, "This feature is: (a) ill-conceived, (b) not thoroughly user-tested, and (c) far from obvious on how to turn it off. Therefore it is poor design." While this may be a good setting, it is not a good default setting and it detracts from the overall utility of AutoCorrect. Finally, I strongly urge against having "Clippy" warn the user about the AutoCorrect (c) to Â© as a solution to the usability issue.  - Why does Microsoft Outlook show "interface not registered" ? Can you help me? I want to send email by Microsoft Outlook using word as Email-edit. Recently I have met a problem. Wenn I the SEND button clink, one box always shows me " interface not registered". I don't know what was happend.  - Word 2003 table indentation problem I'm running Word 2003 (without any service packs) on a Windows XP Pro SP2 system. My document is currently 97 pages long, with a number of tables on certain pages. My problem is, that for no reason whatsoever, Word decided to change the left indentation of all the tables in my document so that all of them are 0.85cm indented. I can solve the problem by highlighting the table and selecting Format>Paragraph and changing the "Left" box under the heading Indentation back to 0. However, this is very long winded due to the size of my document and the amount of tables I have in it. Does anyone know why this has happened? Also, how can I get it to revert back to normal indentation as I originally formatted it, without selecting each table individually? Thanks in advance. I am having a problem with the documents being locke and i cannot modify a
new document in microsoft word i just downloaded the trial version and i'm
taking on line classes and need this for my class work please help

The trial version is just that -- a trial version. After a while the trial
runs out and you get to actually buy it.

You might look into Open Office if you can't afford it.

The least expensive way to purchase Word is as part of the Microsoft Works
suite. If you qualify, though, Microsoft Office for students or teachers is
close in price.
