Microsoft Word 2003
I have some Logos in some of my Letter on a computer which are in Word
format. When I open the file I can see the logo, but when I go to Print
Preview or go to print the document the logo disapears. I try it on another
computer with Microsoft Word 2003 and it works perfectly. I tried totally
reinstalling Office 2003 and that did not work. Any suggestions is there
maybe a setting in word that is set that is causing the logo's not to print
out? Tag: test Tag: 92109
too many edits
I have a large word document (approx 125 pages) that includes fields
linked to Excel. This document is something of a work in progress as
it is continually being edited from one job to the next. I am getting
the "too many edits" error and need a solution or workaround. I have
looked at Microsofts website concerning this and it is of no help. I
have defragged, eliminated temp files, etc etc. Has anybody who has
had this problem fixed it by other means than the above?

Using Word 2000 as Editor in Outlook 2000
Hi. I use the Office 2000 suite of programs, including Word 2000,
with the Win98 OS. I use Word as my email editor in Outlook. I
have had these programs installed for years and have been using this
setting successfully.
February 9 I dialed into the Internet and began to use Outlook (with
Word as my editor) when,
for no apparent reason, I got an error message, "This program
[Outlook] has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." Then I kept
getting that message for other programs open on my computer, including
my dialup connection. At that time, I believe I had open Word,
Internet Explorer, Outlook, and the programs in the system tray that
I've always had running for the last year without a problem (my Trend
antivirus software, Spybot resident, a spell checker, GoBack software,
and my connection to the Internet). I decided, since I always run
these programs with no problem because I have 127 MB of memory, that I
should do a ScanDisk. I did this, and it took practically all day.
Then I also did a Defrag.
But the following day I got that same error message ("This program has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"). I would have
used my GoBack software to go back to a date when the computer was
acting fine. But, when I checked GoBack, I saw that all the history it
logged before I did ScanDisk had been erased. I restarted my computer,
and it acted fine after that for the rest of the day.
The next day, as soon as I connected to the Internet, then opened
Outlook, while I was receiving email, I got that same error
message. No other programs were open except those that are always in
my system tray. This is what makes me think the problem may not have
to do with Word, after all. But this morning I connected to the
Internet, opened Outlook, and received messages. I then chose to reply
to one of the messages. When I pressed
the REPLY button in Outlook, I got an hourglass and nothing more.
Nothing else was functional, so I finally did a control/alt/delete to
turn off Outlook. Then I saw that Winword was in the task list, so I
turned that off, too. After that, Windows seemed fine.
I again tried to reply to that message with the same result. So I
turned off the setting to use Word as the email editor in the Outlook
Tools menu. After that, I could reply to that message with no problem.
This is what makes me think that Word might be the culprit.
Do you think that use of Word as my email editor is what caused the
error message the previous days? Remember, though, the one time I got
that error message, I was just receiving not writing email.
If an Outlook setting is causing the trouble, I wonder why it worked
just fine for so long.
Thanks,

I'm confused, are you? You think it's a virus?!
hello people,
I've opened a document which was supposed to be opened by the Internet
Explorer program but that program couldn't open it, so i tried to open it
with the Word program but guess what?
The whole document went crazy and started to add pages i don't really know
where did it get it from? All i could do is watching these pages increasing
strangely. as i remember the number of pages, before i closed it and stopped
this madness, was about 1700 pages!
Yeah that's right, seventeen hundred pages!
Could any one help me?
the link for that thing i downloaded is:
http://www.geocities.com/yahya_elhadj/CPI/Cpp_Slides/Chap_01.pdf
you can open it safely and don't worry, there is no any kind of danger may
caused. Believe me. It was a handout for a lesson we were suppose to get it
tomorrow, but i don't think anyone would be able to read not to mention
printing that enormous number of pages.

"Compile Error in Hidden Module: Main"

the above error. It will not let me save a Word Document. This occurrs
whenever I open up saved documents as well. I can compose, mail and print

I have tried uninstalling all of Office 2000 and re-installing without
success, so now I'm getting mad.

Word 2003: Flickering Caret
Just started using Word 2003 (was using Word 2K), and I find one thing
extremely distracting: rather than remaining a solid, unblinking line
while characters are being typed, the caret flickers & disappears
completely, but only under certain conditions. It appears to happen
only when one inserts a line of text above something already typed. So
long as the line you are typing is the last line in the document, the
caret behaves normally. But if you position the cursor above the line
you are typing, hit the return key to move that line down, move the
cursor back up one line and begin typing, the cursor starts this wierd
behavior.
Is there some way to prevent this? Tag: test Tag: 92023

winword.exe application hang
Hi All,
I'm the tech support person for a school district with about 750 computers.
About half were upgraded over the summer to Windows 2000 / XP with Office
2003. Lately, we've been seeing a lot of this happy fellow in our event
logs on some computers:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Hang
Event Category: (101)
Event ID: 1002
Description:
Hanging application WINWORD.EXE, version 11.0.5604.0, hang module hungapp,
version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
I searched Google, the MSKB, and this forum for answers. I've seen that
many people have posted similar problems, but it seems like no one has
found a resolution, except in two cases:
1. eFax
2. Norton AV's officeav.dll plugin
Unfortunately, neither of these apply to my situation.
There are two groups of folks experiencing this problem:
Group A is in the Library (and a few scattered classrooms here and there),
and they have Works 2000 installed. Almost every computer that has Works
has this issue. And it most often occurs when they try to print.
Group B does not have Works, but they do run the school's student
management system software. They, however, have many other things in
common too since they are in the same office.
My first thought was to reinstall Word. This helps some in Group A, but
does not help Group B. My second thought was to reinstall Works. This
helped no one. Because of licensing issues, budgetary restrictions,
educational requirements, and other fun political stuff associated with
working in a public school system, Works needs to be on these computers.
Otherwise I'd pitch the whole thing and go with Access. Group B... well..
I have no idea what's up with that. The two main suspects are printer
drivers and the student management software. Both of which I can try to
reinstall, but neither of them can they live without.
So... does anyone have any good suggestions? Leads? If you've solved this
problem before, and it wasn't eFax or Norton, what was it?
1 tech versus 750 computers is a busy job, so any leads you fine folks can
give me would be wonderful. Thanks!!!

Word locks on numbering
I have a document containing bits clipped from other people's docs (which may
be irrelevant). When I use numbering or bullets it frequently locks solidly.
If it works it usually imposes the new numbers/bullets on the entire
document, every sentence. Pressing Alt Backspace repairs the latter and
usually leaves the paragraph properly formatted. This last feature also
occurs with indent.

Word 2003 Freezes XP Pro Laptop Only with Large Files

Norton 2005 is happy with the file structure and many other utilities find

Record macro in ClipArt?
I wanted to record a simple macro while using the Word 2000 Clipart
dialog. But as soon as I went from there to Tools, the ClipArt window
closed. Is it not possible?
Or is there an alternative way to achieve my objective please, which
is as follows. After searching for a keyword, and selecting a
particular choice of clipart from the results, as a minimal objective
want to get the name of that file into the clipboard. The sequence of
keystrokes is straightforward:
Sh+F10, r to get Properties
Tab to select the filename
Ctl+c to copy it to clipboard.
Ideally I want to go a bit further:
Tab another 6 times to select the path to the category file
By pasting into Notepad (assumed open at a fresh file), enter the full
path of the clipart image.

Word temporarily freezing system
I have been chasing a system slowdown issue that appears to come back to
Word. About every minute or so while typing/ editing, my system slows to a
crawl. This lasts for 10-15 seconds and then all the keystrokes rapidly
catch up. Since I have 2 Thinkpads behaving in exaclty the same way (each
running the same anti virus/ malware etc) I have beel looking at setup and
profile. I put a monitor on the machines and discovered that the common
process that happens before everything on the machine (including the clock)
freezes for 10-15 seconds is a spike in CPU usage by WiINWORD. It is only
about 30% of usage and both machines have more than enough power/ speed.
During this time, everything on the PC is seriously slowed. Clock does not
advance and keystrokes dribble out at about 1 per second. I am looking at
other issues as well but I thought I would see if anyone here has seen this
before. Thanks Tag: test Tag: 91990
