Entering a URI when adding schema (Word '07)
Hello all.
I am at a complete loss when I am prompted to enter a URI for the schema I
am attempting to add to the library. The box that comes up after I have
browsed for my schema is the "Schema Settings" box. What do I need to type
here for the URI box? An actual URI or URL? A made-up one? This seems to
be the root of my schema-attaching problems. (If I do not type whatever Word
'07 wants in this URI box, it encounters an error and closes.)
Also, what should I be typing in the "Alias" box? Any old name that I will
recognize?

cannot type accented greek characters in word under vista
I am using Office 2007 on a computer running Windows Vista Business. In the

The problem only occurs in the Word program. The other Office applications

The file is corrupt and cannot be opened
We are looking to rollout Office 2007 from Office 2003. We will be forcing
Office 2007 to default to compatibility mode with prior versions (â??97-2003).
We have found a scenario where while running in compatibility mode, if the
user changes the document type from DOC to DOCX and password protects the
document, it corrupts the document and it cannot be opened anymore. The error
is as follows:
-----------------------------------------------------
The Office Open XML File ##.docx cannot be opened because there are problems
with the contents.
Details
The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.
-----------------------------------------------------
I have been unable to find anything on the Microsoft KB's about this error
or on the forums in this scenario. In the GPO settings, there is nothing
immediately obvious that could cause this problem.

Saving Word Files
I'm using Word '97 in Vista. Worked fine until I created a table doc. For a
while it saved fine but then while pressing save, error said it could not
save and my doc is now gone. I saw a "rescued" doc but it came up in
gibberish and I had to select a "convert" option, none of which seems to
convert to English text.
I gave up and started re-creating my doc and saved it quickly. Once again,
I got the same error. I found a temp file (~wrkxxxx) but that showed one
line of gibberish and error that said to convert the table to text and try
again, but there was no table in this temp doc.
Does anyone have any advice on how to (1) fix the save problem and (2) is
there there a conversion option that works for English text?

Event ID:1000, 1001, 1002
Hi there
I'm having a pain in the arse type problem with Microsoft Word 2002. For
just one user on my companies network, keeps on getting application hangs in
Word, followed by the following Event ID's 100, 1001, 1002.
The client is running Microsoft XP Pro, which is fully service packed and
has the most upto date updates applied and Office is also fully service
packed and has all the updates applied. I have reinstalled Office,
reinstalled the computer, even swapped the computer for a new one and deleted
the users profile and created a new one which no result. The problem happens
an average about one or twice a day. The only thing I can think it can be is
the files, but other users are using the files okay. Everybody uses the same
version of Office.
We are running a Windows Server 2003 AD network and Kaspersky Anti virus.
We have just moved from Norman anti virus so I do not thing that Kaspersky is
causing the problem.
I have done a little research before posting on here and it seems that other
people have this problem, but have not found out how to solve it.
Any help would be most welcome

Scrolling past Table of Contents / building blocks.dotx
In Word 2007 each time I added the TOC or other block from the ribbon
dropdown and then later scrolled past - it would crash. It appeared to only
crash when scrolling using the wheel on the mouse. I have followed the two
options/solutions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925175/en-us. I receive
a bootstrap error when I attempt to repair the office application. This was
not successful in solving the problem this machine or another computer.
When looking at the 1033 folders and the error messages after I attempted
the suggestion in KB 925175, I figured out that Word was opening the renamed
building blocks.old files.
So I deleted them (recycle bin) - SUCCESS. I no longer have the cool
dropdown menus - but it appears I have full functionality. One thing it does
not do is put the TOC or Grids in a "Block" which is just fine by me. And
the application opens up much faster now.
Also - the suggestion from http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/09/18/43 is not
successful for me. Word did not auto create a new building blocks.dotx â??
which so far I am happy with.
This error could be caused by one document. I did not have time to research
support or reinstall word so I went to another computer to edit the doc and
â?? the same error occurred; after that â?? on every new or old document that had
a TOC or other block the app crashed. With deleting the blocks.dotx I can
now open up old documents without any crash.
I donâ??t know what other ramifications will be without this file. I have MS
Word documents with up to 100 pages and Visio with 75+. The Word docs have
linked content with the Visio and Excel documents.
Do you know if this will cause me future problems? Is this dotx file
required? Tag: How to solve memory deficiency for office assistant Tag: 113683

Word 2003 bizarre underline behavior
Hello!
I have an XP SP2 system with fully patched XP and Office 2003 Professional.
When I highlight one word in a sentence by starting on the left and
highlighting toward the right (beginning to end of word) and then click on
the underline toolbar button or hit Ctrl-U to underline the word, it
highlights and underlines the word and everything to the right of the word,
all the way to the end of the line, including spaces. If I highlight the
word from right to left (end to beginning of word) and then hit the
underline button, it highlights and underlines the space following the word
and everything else to the end of the sentence, but does NOT underline the
word itself.
If I start Word in Safe Mode with the /a switch, it behaves normally. The
two other buttons for bold and italics both work normally.
I Googled but could not find an answer and could find nothing in Word's help
files. I have deleted the normal.dot template but the behavior continues.
Any ideas what is causing this weird behavior?
Thank you!

Word 2000 doc behaving odd in Word 2007
I work in a sheriff's department where we have many complicated forms the
officers must fill out. Recently we upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2007.
One of the forms they use quite frequently is in a Word 2000 document; it
consists of two tables with spaces for input, and a rather large footer. When
we open this document in Word 2007, some of the formatting is shifted around
so that some of the lines are hidden. Not only that, but most frustratingly,
as you are typing into some of the spaces in the second table, suddenly all
the typing disappears! The typing disappears in the space where you are
typing, as well as in the rows above the space. If you minimize the window,
everything reappears, only to disappear again a moment later when you
continue to type.
I have checked the page settings; and all of the margins are the same as
they are in Word 2000, so I see no reason for the formatting to have changed.
And the disappearing text only occurs in Word 2007. I even tried saving the
document as the new file type, and even as a template, and still had the same
problem when I opened the document for editing.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions? Tag: How to solve memory deficiency for office assistant Tag: 113633
Document Map in Word 2007
I have found a Document Map problem that did not occur in Word 2002. In Word
2007 the map display is not generated beyond a section break formatted with
an outline level above Body Text.
(Applying a higher outline level to section breaks is useful because it
makes them display in an Outline View restricted to that level.)
I can supply sample documents that demonstrate this problem.
A lower-level issue is that if the map does not fill the Document Map pane,
when the pane is resized the unfilled area is not refreshed correctly.
