I keep getting the same message everytime I try to open Word 2000 : "can't
move focus to the control ...
If I hit "End" I can work in Word, partially.
Neither the Tools nor the File menus will open.
Is this likely to be a virus? I have the latest version of Norton.
Anyone who has advice, please give it to me in moron-simple language. I'm a
journalist, but practically Computer-illiterate.
Thanks for your help!

No, it probably isn't a virus. More likely, it's some corruption in
the Normal.dot template. Go through the steps in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm to see if
they help.
