My HP F380 will print from all programmes except word. There is plenty of ink.

Could have done with some more information there.

Try re-installing ur printer drivers, Try sending a test page from the
printers section in control pannel. Make sure the default printer is set
correct and it is not printing to a mythical place.

By default Word uses the Automatic font color which doesn't use black ink
when printed. Instead, it uses a color blend. If you are getting blank pages
when you print then check your color ink and make sure the heads aren't
clogged or something. Or try a test print in Word and make sure the font
color is Black and not Automatic.

If that isn't it then can you expand on "will not print"? For example do you
encounter an error message? If so what is it? Do you click the Print button
and nothing happens at all?

After pressing print it goes through the motions but comes out either blank
or prints just one word of the document i.e. in a letter it prints date but
nothing else. It does print in other programmes such as excel, access and dtp

It could be the data that is printing is black. Did you try the test print I
suggested?

Not a test page from your printer. :-)

- Create a new document
- Type some text
- Select All (Ctrl+A)
- Change the Font color to Black (don't use the Automatic font color) (Use
Format/Font)
- Print the document

Thank you Beth but I have done everything you have suggested and still not
printing.
However I have just copied the word document and pasted it to Serif and it
has printed perfectly why will it not print from word?

Re: My printer is not printing word documents by Beth

If you created a new document in Word and verified the font color was set to
Black (not Automatic) and sent the document to the printer and still nothing
printed, what about the reverse? Did you also try a document that uses the
Automatic font color? It could be your black ink is clogged and the other
programs are using a blend of colors to create black. I know I keep
suggesting this but this is usually the most common reason for getting a
piece of paper printed out but either no text or only some text on it.
Another situation we've encountered is those using a dark background and
white text - in that case white font on white paper doesn't work too well.
;-)

If you've tried both of the above then did you try updating your printer
driver? Also, when you do print, is the print head moving across the paper
as though it is attempting to print the content?
