If other users who have the same profile rights as you can do this on YOUR
computer, it would indicate that your profile is damaged. Rather than
spending hours chasing around in circles trying to find out what is damaged,
it is easier to delete your profile and create a new one from scratch.

Suggest you *don't* paste as embedded objects - use Insert > Picture > From
File.
