I am missing windows installer files. the only MS office
program affected is word. Everytime I open it, it trys
to run installer and crashes. I cannot uninstall or
repair. I get an error stating that the package is
invalid or missing. Is there anyting I can do?

Hi Anthony,

A patch package error can be caused by several things, but to correct
it you will need to zap the Windows Installer entry in the Registry
and reinstall Office.

Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office
to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD:
