MI5 Persecution: harassment at work
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= harassment at work -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Once I stopped watching television and listening to the radio at the end of
1990, "they" had to find other ways of committing abuses. So they took what
must be for them a tried and tested route; they get at you by subversion of
those around you. Since they wouldn't be able to do that with my family or
friends, that meant getting at people in the workplace to be their
mouthpieces and do their dirty work for them.
They supplied my employers in Oxford with details from what was going on in
my private life, and what I and other people had said at my home and
accommodation in Oxford. So people at work repeated verbatim words which
had been said in my home, and repeated what I'd been doing recently. Often
the most trivial things, the ones from your domestic life, are the ones
which hurt most. One manager in particular at Oxford continuously abused me
for ten months with verbal sexual abuse, swearing, and threats to terminate
my employment. After ten months I was forced to seek psychiatric help and
start taking medication, and was away from work for two months. I spoke
later with a solicitor about what had happened at that company; he advised
it was only possible to take action if you had left the company as a result
of harassment, and such an action would have to be started very soon after
leaving.
Over a year later the same manager picked on another new worker, with even
more serious results; that employee tried to commit suicide with an
overdose as a result of the ill-treatment, and was forced to leave his job.
But he didn't take action against the company, either. Abuse at work is
comparable to that elsewhere in that tangible evidence is difficult to
produce, and the abusers will always have their denials ready when
challenged. And even if a court accepts what you say happened, it still
remains to prove that abuse causes the type of breakdown I had at the end
of 1992. In a recent case before a British court, a former member of the
Army brought a case against others who had maltreated him ten years
previously. Although the court accepted that abuse had occurred, it did not
agree that depressive illness necessarily followed, and denied justice to
the plaintiff.

accidental document designation
My computer threw me back to an older image, and decided that my wps
documents were one of those 'what do you want to open with? types.
I have word 2000, but when I clicked on one, my finger slipped and
accidently designated it as a wordpad document, and I don't know how to
redesignate the over 200+ documents.

MI5 Persecution: cost of the operation
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= MI5: cost of the operation -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Here's what a couple of other people on Usenet (uk.misc) had to say
regarding the cost of running such an operation...
PO: >Have some sense, grow up and smell reality. What you are talking about
PO: >would take loads of planning, tens of thousands of pounds and lots of
PO: >people involved in the planning, execution and maintenance of it. You
PO: >must have a very high opinion of yourself to think you are worth it.
PM: >But why? And why you? Do you realize how much it would cost to keep
PM: >one person under continuous surveillance for five years? Think about
PM: >all the man/hours. Say they _just_ allocated a two man team and a
PM: >supervisor. OK., Supervisor's salary, say, #30,000 a year. Two men,
PM: >#20,000 a year each. But they'd need to work in shifts -- so it would
PM: >be six men at #20,000 (which with on-costs would work out at more like
PM: >#30,000 to the employer.)
PM: >
PM: >So, we're talking #30,000 x 6. #180,000. plus say, #40,000 for the
PM: >supervisor. #220,000. Then you've got the hardware involved. And
PM: >any transcription that needs doing. You don't think the 'Big Boss'
PM: >would listen to hours and hours of tapes, do you.
PM: >
PM: >So, all in all, you couldn't actually do the job for much less than
PM: >a quarter million a year. Over five years. What are you doing that makes
PM: >it worth the while of the state to spend over one and a quarter million
PM: >on you?
Those are pretty much the sort of calculations that went through my head
once I stopped to consider what it must be costing them to run this
operation. The partial answer is, there have been periods when the
intensity has been greater, and times when little has happened. In fact,
for much of 1993 and the first half of 1994, very little happened. Although
I don't think that was for reasons of money - if they can tap into the
taxpayer they're not going to be short of resources, are they?
The more complete answer is in the enormity of what they're doing. Relative
to the cost to British pride of seeing their country humiliated for the
persecution of their own citizens, isn't is worth the cost of four or five
people to try to bring things to a close in the manner they would wish? To
the government a million or two is quite honestly nothing - if they can
convince themselves of the necessity of what they're doing, resources will
not be the limiting factor.

Word freezes, then crashes
Hello,
Iâ??ve been using a version of Word contained in Office 2000 Professional for
about 4 years now without any problems (except the â??usualâ?? formatting
headaches, for which Iâ??ve found help here). I first used it on Win 98, and
Iâ??m now using XP Home SP2.
Recently, Word started acting strangely indeed. As I type, the program
suddenly freezes, without any warning. Then, hitting any key appears to make
Word scroll very quickly through the document, until it suddenly freezes up
again. The program then appears to take up most of the CPU usage, and the
computerâ??s fan turns up to high speed. Itâ??s impossible to do anything in the
document and, within a few seconds, or perhaps longer (it seems to depend),
the program just crashes without any warning, and all open word documents
close.
I de-installed Office, as well as its the corresponding registry keys, and
after shutting down the computer, etc., I re-installed Office. I thought this
would make the difference... but it didnâ??t. My Word documents still exhibit
the same behaviour. And itâ??s become very annoying indeed.
After de-installing and re-installing Office I was a little surprised to see
that, when opening Word after the re-installation, my old customised toolbars
were showing instead of the default ones (nothing fancy, just reduced down to
the icons one uses most often). I didnâ??t quite understand why this was, but
might it be a clue as to why Word is still acting in the same way?
Iâ??ve checked out some comments and some help pages linked to through the
discussions here (â??Corrupt documentsâ?? and â??What to do when word crashes,
etc.), but I canâ??t seem to find anything similar.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
(P.S.: Iâ??m not connected to a default printer). Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109541
Invisible Font list in Word 2003
We have Office 2003 with five licenses. Four of the installations work fine.
The fifth one, which is also on the newest computer, has problems. This
computer runs XP Home and is a VisionsBook Pro 3000 laptop with an Acer hard
drive.
In Word, when we use the font styles in the formatting bar many of them are
invisible. It is as if many of them have been typed in white. The space is
there for them and if I click on the empty space the font name appears in the
window and is usable. But until I actually click on it to use it I have no
clue as to which font I am choosing. I have 17 blank spots between Arial (not
the Arial family - the rest are all invisible) and Bookshelp Symbol 7.
The fonts are installed. They are visible in Publisher but not in Word (nor
in Power Point as I just discovered). They are visible in WordPad and in
WordPerfect.
I have tried changing the default printer to no avail. I have uninstalled an
reinstalled Office 2003 two or three times to fix thsi problem. We would like
to see the font names so we can choose whether or not to use them before we
click on them.

Error Printing Documents with equations
Hey !
I am using the oldest beta (beta tester :) and there is a bug.
I did a paper for the university using some equations.
When i print the paper, some dont come out, even that i see them on the
screen.
I need to save it as a *.doc file, and it saves the equations as pics, but
the quality is awfull.
Known bug ?
Please consider this as a report, i know that the beta is over.
if there is a quick fix or it is fixed in official 2007 version please let
me know.
Thanks. Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109523
Word 2007: Error on insert cover page (cannot open this document template)
When I click on Insert | Cover Page, I immediately get an error
message:
Word cannot open this document template. (C"\..\1033\Building
Blocks.dotx)
I thought it might be related to having some of the beta's on this
workstation, so I removed all of the office products and reinstalled
fresh and it still happens.
Any suggestions? This is with Office 2007 Enterprise Edition.

Update causes 100% CPU Utilization
I recently updated Word 2003 to the latest version and now clicking
the mouse when it's open or opening it for email purposes results in
Word taking up 100% of resources for at least 10 seconds. Sometimes
Word won't recover and it crashes and will send you through a loop of
recovery and reopening that never ends.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Word 2003. It worked fine prior to
service pack 2 updates. Afterwards (and I think there is a SP3) the
problem started and has rendered Word the ultimate time waster.
I've only noticed a document on old versions doing this with the
answer being to update. Has anyone seen this? Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109493
Used System Restore: Word 2003 gives Error: 25090 now
I did a System Restore. Adobe Photoshop CS needed to be connected by phone
to Adobe to reaffirm it's key. Adobe CS suite now works. However, now
Publiser and Word and EXCEL don't want to work. They take minutes and
minutes to come up with a screen, and then minutes to load a document. Got a
"Error 25090" when trying Words HELP-->DETECT & REPAIR function. Did not
work. Something with XP System Restore and the Adobe programs losing the
fact that they were registerd (almost 2 years now) programs and having to be
re-registered over the Internet with Adobe and this happening at the same
time means the problem must be connected with the register program on-line
function and doing a system restore. Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109484
Word freezes when attempting to open a document that is protected for forms with no password.
I have a user that is unable to open word documents that a few months
ago they could. These are very vanilla docs with radio buttons...
nothing fancy. They are saved and protected selecting Forms on the
protection options, with no password. When they are unprotected by
another user, this user can then open them up. But when they try to
open one that is protected (again, no password) word becomes
unresponsive. The only option is then to CTL/ALT/DEL and to end task.
The interesting thing is that other users can open these with on
problems. In fact I can logon to this PC as the Administrator and they
open using the same Word install perfectly fine. I have confirmed this
user has local Admin rights. In fact the files she is pulling from the
Novell server are setup in her personal folder which only she has
rights too (in addition to admin).
We have tried to save them to new names and have the user open the new
copies and still have the same result. We have attempted a Office 2000
repair and a reinstall with no changes.

Hidden Files and copies with squiggles
I hid "my document" folder without a password. When I went back in to unhide

~$tober 12 (1mb of file October 12)
~WRL0002.tmp (exact copy of file October 12 but renamed)
~$Oct 20 (Oct 20 -1mb)
~$ec 1-2 (Dec 1-2 -1mb)
3 files were only 1mb. I'm just wondering why these are here? I had not
accessed these files recently and it seems strange they were the only ones in
a folder with about 20 other documents that this happened too. And I have
about 20 other folders in the my document folder. Could they have been opened
although I had them hidden and that is why the extra files? I have never had
this problem before although it is the first time I have hid files. Any

How to level up columns?
Dear expert,
I'm an editor of a learned journal. Often I have to spend lot of time in
leveling up the base line of two columns at the ends of every page and every
section. What I did was to modify the spacing by adjusting the number of
line before and after a paragraph, or other similar approaches. The thing is
that the manipulation was hard to control and it automatically "jumps".
Could any know better way to do so? Is there any function in the Word? BTW,
I use MS Office 2000.
Thanks a lot! Roger Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109453

Crash on Table Edit
I spent much of the last two weeks at work working on a document in which I
made use of tables to achieve various fomatting - a line with left justified
and right justified text - several lines with columns of vertically alligned
text - that sort of thing.
All went well - for a while.
But, then as we got close to the deadline for finishing with this document I
encountered a problem. Whenever I tried to edit the structure of one of
these tables or delete one, Word would crash. "Word has encountered a
problem and neeeds to close . . . ." When I restarted with the repaired
document, there were no repairs to see, but there was a message that that the
file had incluced a "date integrity error."
I was using Word 2003 on a computer with Windows XP SP2.
One additional clue: The file had been processed by the "Remove Hidden
Information" tool from Microsoft.
Does anybody have any ideas about: i) What caused this, or ii) How to fix it?

Problems with Left-to-Right language
Good day;
- My new OS is XP prof service pack 2 (updated)
- I am running Microsft office 2000 premium on my computer backed with
Microsoft office 2000 proofing tools fully installed .
- My keyboard is a QWERTY carrying both alphabetsâ?? letters, Latin and
Arabic, and both numbers Latin and Arabic.
- In international settings under languages à details à settings, in
addition to English and other languages, I have added the language Arabic
(Saudi Arabia) with the following keyboards layout options: Arabic (101) and
Arabic (102).
In Microsoft Word, whether using keyboard layouts Arabic (101) or Arabic
(102), I encounter the following two problems:
1. While all buttons relative to Arabic letters function normally, when I
push the buttons relative to the Arabic numbers nothing shows up!!! I even
tried to push all the buttons on my keyboard to see whether other buttons
correspond to the Arabic letters, no luck? I tried again changing the
Arabic language to (Egypt) it did not work. What should I do?
2. While all commands present on the formatting toolbar function properly
including Bold letters, Font, alignment, ectâ?¦, font size does not. In fact,
when changing font size using the command on the formatting toolbar the
command will always show the preset size it does not change; however; if
afterwards I check font size in: Standard Toolbar à Format à Font, the font
size indicates the one I have newly set!!!
The major problem however, is that the font size on the document itself does
not change?!
N.B.: This problem is not present while working with English Language!
What should I do?
P.S.: previously I had windows 98 Arabic Edition as OS on my computer and I
did not had such problems!

Word settings won't hold
I recently upgraded to Microsoft Office 2003 (student-teacher
edition), hoping in part to get rid of a persistent problem in which
my preference settings are constantly replaced by a consistent set of
settings that I never chose. I carefully uninstalled the old version
before installing the new one, but the problem persists. Nothing seems
to prevent this, not even going through the register (at great peril,
I know) and deleting all the references to Microsoft Office I could
find. Creating a new normal.dot template didn't help, either. I can't
figure what triggers this reversion to the unwanted settings. It
doesn't happen immediately, or upon any event I can identify, but it
never takes long. It either happens in the same computer session or
the next time I turn on the computer and open Word. Other Office
programs, Excel at least, don't seem to have this problem. Any
suggestions? Thanks.

Word Processor will not open up in works 8
If this is not the place to post this question please forgive and tell me
where i can post it.
I have Works 8 on my computer and all of a sudden i can not open the word
processor program even though the other programs open up with no problem.
It acts as if the program is "hung-up" i get no error messages it just does
not open.
I have been trying to fix this all day and i give up.
anyone know how to fix this problem???? Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109335
Word Spellcheck finds old footer
I just ran a spell/grammar check on a document in Word 2003 and it found an
error in a footer--but that footer has been replaced. I can't find it in the
document in Print view or when I print it out. Why is this happening, and
can I make it go away? Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109325
Security warning when MS Word is opened
When I open Word, a security warning pops up saying that the doc I'm
opening contains macros that may contain viruses, etc. Since I'm only
trying to open a new doc, or any of dozens that don't contain macros,
why is this happening, and how do I get rid of this? Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109321
File permission error and Windows Live OneCare
I keep getting "word is unable to complete save due to file permission
error" since installing Live OneCare. Disable the Firewall and the
problem goes away. (Saving to my hard drive, btw)Obviously, I don't want
to adhere to this workaround.
Also, if I launch Word 2003 in Safe mode via the Ctrl-key, the problem
seems to disappear as well.
What's the likely problem? The solution?
Thanks.

Word 2007 / Displayed Math Text Direction Printing Bug
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this sort of questions, but..=
=2E
I noticed this simple issue, which appears to be a bug to me, as I=20
reproduced it on several computers =E2=80=8Eand installations of Word 200=
7=E2=80=8E. I=20
wonder if anybody else experiences that too? Is it a known bug? Or=20
else, any idea what's going wrong to me?
Attached is a short Word 2007 document (.docx) demonstrating the=20
following problem:
When entering displayed equations (using Word 2007=E2=80=99s built in mat=
h=20
entry, I.E. Alt+=3D) alone in a line =E2=80=8E=E2=80=8E(not surrounded by=
any text),=20
equations in paragraphs with right-to-left directionality (switched=20
using =E2=80=8ECtrl+Shift) simply do not appear in the printed or PDF/XPS=
=20
exported output. Inline equations =E2=80=8E=E2=80=8E(surrounded by text) =
do not produce=20
that problem.=E2=80=8E
The simple workaround is to change the directionality of all display=20
equation paragraphs to left-to-=E2=80=8Eright. Since there is no text aro=
und=20
display equations, that will only have any other side effects in =E2=80=8E=
terms=20
of paragraph spacing.=E2=80=8E
Any ideas?

MS Word crashes when typing "Quando me l'hanno" in italian
Hi
I have discovered that Word crashes when:
- the language is Italian
- I type the sentence "Quando me l'hanno"
I use MS Office XP in italian with the last updates, this happens both
on Win 2000 and Win XP (both updated).
Is there anybody that could explain why this happens?
Perhaps the spelling/grammar checker fails?
The sentence is a correct italian sentence, though incomplete.
If I change the language to english the error does not happen.
If I apply the Italian language the error appears again.
Ciao

Beta 2007 user
When I try to open documents in word 2007 I get the following error message.
"This document is unavailable" Wheter it is 2003 format or new document using
word 2007. What is up? Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109310
You do not have a World Wide Web start page registered on your computer.
Using Word 2002, I get the above message when I click Start Page on the Web
toolbar.
Searching for the message, I find an Excel list of error messages noting
that this is msg. # 2816.
That's it.
How do I register a WWW start page on my computer?
Don't tell me to do it in IE7's Internet Options | General tab. The reason
I'm messing with this in Word is that IE7 won't let me change my Start Page
(Home Page). KB has been no help in this. Tag: How I set up to use the microphone in word? Tag: 109306
