I have a large word document (approx 125 pages) that includes fields
linked to Excel. This document is something of a work in progress as
it is continually being edited from one job to the next. I am getting
the "too many edits" error and need a solution or workaround. I have
looked at Microsofts website concerning this and it is of no help. I
have defragged, eliminated temp files, etc etc. Has anybody who has
had this problem fixed it by other means than the above?

Thanks

Try performing a 'complete' save. Go to the end of the document and
type a few words. Save the document and close it. Open the document and
remove the words you typed. Do a File > Save As and save the document
where it originally resides. This should clear up all the 'loose ends'
that are created when you save an edit session. (a quick, brief
explanation: Word onlys saves the changes, which creates packets of
information hanging off the main document. Performing a 'complete' save
puts all those packets within the main document).
Hope this helps.

Only if you have FastSaves enabled and no one does that!
