    - Word 2000-system is dangerously low in resources! I could use my Word program until today and when I would try to open a file I got the message: System is danerously low in resources! Would you like to terminate the following application? Microsoft Word not responding. To get our of this I have to restart the computer. In trying again I get the messages: Msgsrv32 caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE@0003:00003bab and then, Explorer caused invalid page fault in module USER.EXE@0007:000027C8. At this point the everything is locked up and I have to turn off the computer. I am unable to copy my files to a disk because I can't open anything. Can anyone help?     - Word 2002 I recently purchased an external floppy drive for my laptop. I can open JPEG and Excel documents directly from a floppy but not Word documents. When I attempt to open a Word document from a floppy Word does not respond. Open the macro Security window again and it is magically back to High! Why please?     - Paragraph style error - Level B refers to more than one style I have modified some Heading styles in my document and then I get the error message: Level B refers to more than one style The application will not let me set a paragraph to that style of modify the style. I can get the same effect however by chosing the next lower style and then using the left arrow on the menu bar to raise it up one level. What can I do to get rid of the error message?     - Typing In Word Hangs I have a problem similar to an earlier posting. When I open MS Word, I type one or two characters and then Word hangs up. After a minute or so, Word will allow me to type another couple of characters and then hangs again. The problem goes away when I open MS Word in safe mode (Start, Run, type in "winword /a", Press "Enter"). The computer I'm using has AMD's Athalon XP 1900+ processor, 1GB DDR SDRAM, Windows 2000 (SP4 and all patches), and Office XP Pro (2002 w/SP2 and all patches). Possibly related is Outlook. When I open Outlook, it also opens MS Word. If I originate e-mail, what I type in the first e-mail is displayed in the MS Word Window. After sending it, second and subsequent e-mails originated during that session are displayed in a regular message window. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix the Word problem? When saving a document located on the server from one of=20 the clients an error message pops up telling the user that=20 there is something wrong with the disk where he or she is=20 trying to save the document. At the same time the network=20 connection is getting the red X on it as if it wasnt=20 accesible, which it is, when accesing it from explorer.=20 Thats when the real problem reveals itself, the document=20 you were trying to save is now gone. Its not on the server=20 or anywhere to be found on the local machine.=20 The event log shows nothing that can help me with this=20 problem, both server and client log is checked for the=20 specific time when it occours. The disk on the server=20 looks fine.     - Word 2002 duplex printing My last post didn't seem to appear so this is a repeat attempt to make a post. Manual duplex printing simply asks me to load the next piece of paper in the sheet feeder when it hasn't printed the first page and prints nothing else when I respond to the "OK" in the dialog box.     - Word Opens Slowly I am still having trouble with Word and wonder if anyone has new ideas. It opens slowly and if I interrupt it opening by trying to click, it may freeze. Otherwise it works fine, just opens and closes slowly. If I open it in winword.exe /a, it does fine. I have tried deleting normal.dot, the registry data key, and have deleted temp files. If I look for Add-ins, including the Com add-ins, there has never been anything in the windows.     - Distorted page display in Print Layout View Hello I'm running Word 2003 though I once had this problem in Word XP. In print layout view, the size and shape of the page is wrong. It looks like an 8 1/2 by, say 9" tall page, instead of the 8 1/2 by 11" page that it ought to be. I tried deleting Normal.dot, but that didn't help. In the past, I could call up an old letter and it would display correctly. Now, though, that isn't working either. Everything else seems to work fine.     - Error 1706: No valid source.... I have a computer with WinXP and Word 2000 plus Excel 2003/Outlook2003. We need Word 2000 for a specific application. Everything was fine until I did the updates for the Word2000. We have the users as restricted but did the updates as Admin. When starting Word as a restricted user, it give the error: "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1. The Windows installer cannot continue." It will only give this error when logged in as the restricted user. I don't want to give the users any more rights than they absolutely need so how can I get around this? I found the KB article relating to something similiar but it didn't work.     - Word freezes? I recently changed a few things on my system and now I can't get word (from office 2000) to work. My system freezes completely, and when I press ctrl/alt/delete - it says I'm dangerously low on resources - Wierd because I have tons of space left on all drives. Running Windows XP and Word 2000. Occuring just recently,
can't open word files saved on my C drive. Get message
that reads "name of file".doc not available. It will
allow me to open the file in WordPad, copy, and paste
back into Word. However, when I save again in Word using
another file name, I am getting the same message when I
try to open the newly created file. What is going on???

Hi Deb,

Sounds like you also use Norton AV. In Norton go to Norton Options and
in the Miscellaneous section turn off "Enable Office Plug-In"
