    - Word 2003 Squished Text Word intermittenly squishes the text of my entire document after I click the print button. I can do several things to unsquish the text: 1. Save doc, close Word, and reopen doc 2. Change the font type or size 3. Change to a different printer and then back to the original 4. Change the view to Web Layout 5. Highlight all text and where format = Normal select Clear Formatting I've recreated this problem using several different printer types, so I don't think it's the printer driver. This is annoying.     - Sentences condense in Word 2003 Occasionally, when I am ready to print a document, it condenses the majority of the words/sentences/paragraphs to nearly a single character. It seems to only happen to older/archived files. Is there a fix, or when it does happen, is there a way to undo it - I have to close the file (losing any information I changed) and start over. In my old computer Endnote would appear in world under tools; however it does not happen with my new one. I manage to make it appearing by adding a world template from the endnote files. In my Office 2003, when I apply some changes to Word toolbars, this change, leaving Word, is not recorded, so that when I re-open Word, I do not find my previous toolbar customization.     - Autocorrect error message When I try to add a word I've mispelled to Autocorrect while working on a document, an error message (at least I think it's an error message) pops up in an asian language that I can't read. No error message number is given, and after I click "OK" the word is corrected, but it is not added to the Autocorrect library. My Notebook came with a trial version of Office 2003 Small Business Edition with Business Contact Manager, and after the trial period expired I installed a full version of Office 2003 Professional.     - A ghost file in document recovery that won't go away! Whenever I open WORD(2002) it shows in the available files of the document recovery panel a file named "Grondverzakking.doc [recovered]" ... it then leaves me the options to eather save OR open OR delete Whatever I chose it tells me that Word can not Open, nor delete the file because it can not "read from the source file".     - HELP - FAST PLEASE - Table of contents in Word - issues with viewi I have a TOC that is changign page numbers only in print preview. I open the doc and all the TOC says a single number as page numbers on every line. I noticed when it has changed the numbers it stalls before loading the pages past page one. If it does not make the change it opens the whole doc immediately. If I close print preview and then go back in it sometimes goes back to the right TOC page numbers in the print preview.     - Anti virus conflict with MS Word We have Word 2002 with Norton antivirus and firewall active. Opening MS Word is very slow 75 to 90 seconds. Closing takes about the same time. Once the Word screen comes up an hour glass appears on the screen for about 60 seconds. Also during the slow start up the message "Requesting virus scan" appears at the bottom of the screen. This seems to be the real hold up. Once MS Word is up, loading a file is reasonably quick but the "Requesting virus scan" appears. It seems that a virus scan of the entire MS Word execute is being run on every start up. Turning off Norton makes no difference. Uninstalling and reinstalling Word has not helped.     - Cannot open Word in Office 97 Hi I have installed MS Office 97 Professional on my computer which is running Windows XP. I am able to use Access with no problem but cannot open Word. The message I get is - This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the location you originally installed the application. I have already installed SR1 and SR2.     - Scrolling in document with numerous sections does "repeat" section Dear All, I am using Office 2003 on WinXP with latest patches and service packs. (German versions of OS and Office) When writing a document and working with sections, which is really necessary sometimes, I have to problem that scrolling does not work at some time. When scrolling up (or down, depends on the "mood" of Word) some sections will always repeat and I cannot scroll down to the next / up to the previous section. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how many sections, pictures, text, whatever is required to let Word have this behaviour. But once it start to happen, it will always happen, at random sections. Is there any patch, registry tweak or whatever to solve this annoying bug? I searched at google and in the news boards but I feel that I am the only one experience this problem, and of course all people that open such "infected" document after they received from me. Someone told that you must not include pictures of any other format than WMF, but unfortunately this behavior occurs even there are no pictures in the document at all (at least non that I would know of). I received an amail from a buiness that i do business with. the email had an attachment. it was scaned for virusus and none where found. when i opened the attachment i had 2 choices save to disk or open. i chose to open and run. i then received the following : Runtime error.     - E-Mail error using Word. Can anybody please help with the following problem. I am using Microsoft Office 2003 and I have it set up to use Word for writing e-mails. Every time I try to create a new e-mail by using either word itself or open new Office document and then pressing the E-Mail envelope I get the following error message. "You cannot close Microsoft Office word because a dialogue box is open. Click OK, switch to word, and then close the dialogue box." When you then press OK you get the following error message and the blank e-mail page will still not open. "Word could not load the E-Mail envelope.     - History.IE5 folder in History Panel When I click on the History Icon in Windows XP the folder opens with History.IE5 as the header, but not history. I have checked the View Folder and selected History and that is what pops up. I have selected 3 days history under Internet options. I have removed Internet Explorer and reinstalled it. I have version IE 6.0.2900. I have done a Go Back, and system repair. At first this was just a problem on one laptop and now it is on both.     - Word 2003 - Random lockups I work in a library where we have a pool of around 20 internet computers for public use. We recently completely upgraded these machines to brand new 3 ghz boxes running Windows XP (SP2) about a month ago. In that upgrade we also decided to make the jump from Office 2000 to 2003. All has been fine, except occasionally a patron will be working in Word only to have the app lock up and go "not responding". Unlike some other posters who've had short intermittent lockups, Word never comes back from these freezes and we always have to end task, which of course results in the patron losing their work. We haven't been able to trace it to a particular PC and obviously we can't really tell what the patrons are doing when Word locks up. As a stopgap we implemented an every-2-minute autosave on all the machines with Word, but we're pretty frustrated with this. Has anyone seen this type of behavior from Word 2003 before?     - errors with printing page numbers I have made a document containing 2 sections. In section 2 I used the "insert autotext" option to insert "Page X of Y" numbering in the footer. When I look at my screen the numbering works correctly but when I print my document the numbering appearing on paper is "Page 2 of 2", "Page 3 of 3" and so on.     - Wrong size of WMF graphics in Word 2003 Hello I have problem importing graphics in the WMF (Windows Metafile) format into Word 2003. The file can be imported into the document from the file, but the image shown is small, about a quarter of the size it should have. The image object has the expected size (seen by selecting the image), but the image is shown is small. This applies to Word 2003 SP1 running on Windows XP. Showing the image by double clicking on it yields the expected image with the expected size. The problem is the same if a document from Word 2000 is opened: The image is too small, even though it looked right in Word 2000. Can anybody help me on this?     - Word 2003 crashing after CTRL+V Currently some of my users is having troubles after they used CTRL+V to paste text or graphic into Word. It doesn't matter where the text or graphic is comming from (eg. Notepad or Visio). The error they are getting is a Runtime Error, and there is no crash id nor a log file just a simple errordialog. The only work around I've found is to use Edit -> Paste Special and then thoose one of the options not marked - this depends on what's being pasted. We currently use Office 2003 SP2 on a WinXP SP2.     - Find menu is disabled for a fixed document! I had a corrupted DOC file and I had successfully 'recovered' it using a third party tool (R-Word by name). The contents are good.     - Word 2000 crashing after Ctrl-X For proofreading purposes, I use a particular type of Word file in the form of a 3-column table, with 2 colums formatted as hidden (I'm not sure whether this is relevant for my problem). Sometimes Word 2000 crashes out of the blue. I am not entirely sure about this, but I think I have narrowed it down to the Ctrl-X keyboard shortcut for cutting text, i.e. the crashes tend to occur after using Ctrl-X.     - Phonetic Guide I'm finding that some of the Ruby text appears compressed on some base text, and not for other base text I'm making guides for. I happen to be making PinYin guides for traditional Chinese characters, and the PinYin is with tone marks. There appears no pattern as to which guides get compressed and which do not. I have chosen Centered, Arial Unicode MS, 1pt offset, 12 pt size consistently, and the base text characters in the document appear all the same font/size. If you are using Symantec/Norton Antivirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See
