I am using Word 2007 (part of Office 2007) on XPSP2 with all updates.

Everytime I close Word I get a dialog saying there was an error and asking
if I want to send a report to MS and if I want to recover my work and
restart Word. Any ideas why this would be and how I can prevent it?

It has been suggested this is related to an HP printer driver and to use a
different default printer. Is there a more effective solution to the
problem?

I checked the website and all its links but could not find anything that
pertained to my problem when closing the application. Any other ideas?

All of the troubleshooting techniques apply to problems closing Word as well
as opening, not to mention some problems with using Word as well. If it has
been suggested that the printer is the problem, that would be a good place
to start, but don't discount the other issues.

I am having the same problem with Word 2007, and have deleted the dirvers and
printer installations-- it still crashes on close and the scrole bars don't
work.
