    - word 2007 crashes when using with IE 7 Whenever I have word open and I am also using IE 7 word will encounter an error and shut down. However before it closes it will open a blank document. In event viewer the error info. is always the same. This is what I see in event viewer: faulting app is winword.exe module is hpz3r5ha fault address is 0x000467e8 event id 1000 When I click the link within event viewer to further research this, the information returned states that there is nothing logged for this particular problem.     - Word 2003 and Document Recovery I see in Document Recovery the file (Document1) recovered but when I try to close this file, I receive the message cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk. I believe this is the normal.dot file and I have renamed this file to see if I can fix this issue but that has not worked. I am working in a Terminal Server environment and multiple users are getting this issue when they open Word every other time. I have looked in newsgroups, googled for this issue and searched Microsoft's tech site. I would appreciate any help with this issue.     - WMF File Freezes Word when scrolling over it Hi There, I have a word document that freezes for about 15 seconds when scrolling over it. I have run filemon and noticed that it it writing to the folder content.mso serveral hundered times. the wmf image is only 1.8mb in size and if i convert it to gif i can scroll over it without any problem, the problem is is that a lot of my documents are using the .wmf format and will be impossible for me to change all of them.     - Word freezes when opening a document based on a non-existent templ hi, we have a major problem at work. We had a large number of templates that were scattered across many servers, which we have just consolidated on to 1 server in departmental directories. This works great when creating new documents based on templates on the new server. The problem is that when we did the re-organization we switched off the unused servers. Now if you try to open a document that was created before the change, Word hangs for abour 10 minutes. I assume it is looking for its attached template (on a now non-existent server). The templates all still exist in the new location (in various sub directories).     - How do I close a "dialogue box" in Windows xp? My computer crashed; was repaired and restored. I reinstalled folders and files saved on travel disc. I use Windows XP. But now I cannot open a file, nor can I create a new file. Monitor says that a dialogue box is open and must first be closed. Anybody know what a dialogue box is and where it resides?     - WORD "NOT RESPONDING" Someone please help me! I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, Office 2003 and on a network. At various times while using Word, it will freeze up and say (Not Responding) and I have to force quit the application. This happens if I try to open more than one Word file, or if I just have only one open and try to print, or pretty much anytime I'm using Word for more than 5 minutes. The cursor displays the busy signal but the insert picture from file dialog never opens and the program must be forced closed. A document template, being shared by a workgroup, purposefully contains Paste Special links that allow people to type something ONCE, and the word they typed is automatically updated throughout the document, eliminating redundant keyboarding. But Word insists on slamming an erroneous 'error message' up in users' faces whenever they use the template, ominously warning them that "this document contains links that may refer to other files. Do you want to update this document with the data from the linked files?" In this case the links do NOT refer to other files; they are internal links and are intended to function as planned, so this scary error message is incorrect. However, users are rattled by seeing this incorrect 'error message' ...and they tend to answer "NO", which compromises the utility of the template.     - Word 2003 not printing parts of the file and doesn't "honor" margi In previously created files that use table format, Word previews the document fine. But when I print the document, some of the columns don't print at all and anything along the right margin gets printed off the page and cut off. In the columns not printing, the justification is set to right justified. I have highlighted the text and changed the justification to left justified and the column will print. However, the column using the right margin is already left justified and still will print off the page. It happens to all previously created files and it doesn't matter what printer I send the file to. I can copy and paste the table into a new document and it prints fine with no formatting changes. Word links the chart object but refers to it in the status bar as "Double-click to Edit Microsoft Office Excel 97-2003 Worksheet". If I change the object in Excel, the copy in Word does not update.     - Could not creat the work file. Check the temp environment varria. I encountered this message after I transfered files from my flash drive then "safely removed" it and then opened Word. For some reason I believe Word is now using the D: drive to creat it's temp work file. When I plug the flash drive back in and re-open Word, everything works fine. If I "safely remove" the drive, Word eventually crashes. The problem I have is I cannot find where in Office or Word is pointing to this drive. The evironment tables in the main windows operating system are pointing to the C: drive. My next step is to re-install Office, but I would prefer to solve this in the event that it happens again. I have seen a few people who have encountered the same problem. I can tell you that it has something to do with either a failed network drive or a flash drive that office is trying to use.     - Word 2000 Printing Issue I have two staff that are having intermittant problems printing word documents. On sending document to print they get winword.exe has generated errors and will close. Which it does very quickly. I have advised that they reboot after such a message as if they don't it will continue over again.     - WORD "forgets" default network printer Well, maybe "forget" is the wrong term to describe what is happening. I am using MS WORD 2003 SP3, on an HP-Compaq 5100 running Windows XP SP2. I've set my default printer in Windows to be a networked HP LaserJet 4050 PCL 6. All of my Office apps remember the default printer, but whenever I load WORD, it hangs saying the printer isn't responding, do I want to wait? I click "No", then I go into the print menu and reset the blank printer line to the default printer. What is causing this behavior? Is there something in my Office or Windows setup that is incorrect? I clicked through several WORD menus and cannot find an option to set the default printer, other than in the Print menu, where I tell it which printer to use.     - missing tabs, menus, ribbons I am missing the tabs, menus, and ribbons in Word & Excel. I tried recreating the normal.dotm file as suggested by the support site but they are still missing on this one PC. I have Office Ultimate installed...I tried to copy a normal.dotm from another PC with Office Ulitimate on it, but the only thing I see is the Acrobat Add-In Ribbon. Everything else is non-existent.     - word 2007 app crash This below failure report occurs when I close word 2007 std edition without first closing the word doc or docx that is open. It occurs whether Word 2007 is setup to compatability mode or not. It occurs whether word is set to save in .docx or save in .doc Not all old documents cause the event. I have been unable to find a pattern of types of existing files that cause the event but a high high majority of files cause it and this includes files I regularly use from the last one to five years from various versions of word and from various operating systems of XP and vista. details: two versions of the crash report are copied below to you as one version casues word to reopen and one version casues word to close. problem sequence. one or more doc or docx are open in word. I ask the docs to close individually. all will close with no messages or alarms until last doc is closed. the last one is requested to close by using the word main window X. at that time the word main page closes from desktop, then "microsoft windows" message appears that says MS Office Word has stopped working. "Windows can check online for a solution to the problem and try to recover your infomration and restart." problem details are what are copied below. APPCRASH is listed as problem event name for the restarts and offcie 12 crash is listed for the word must close event. After my input of either choice "restart program" or Check online for a solution and restart program", the command is accepted and crash message window closes then a message appears that says word cannot open the file ~ WRS{97c34DCD-A350-4083-A740-2BDE4F438CA0}.tmp same message goes on to say "if file is stored on computer there may be a problem with hardware. try saving the file in another location and opening it there." file name seems to change also as here's another file listed on another crash I just did ~WRS(10563FCB-90CD-4618-819A-0510E899F9B7}.tmp the input request is "ok?" only. upon hitting ok, all messages disappear, new message appears that says word is trying to save my infomormation and check for solution. after a few seconds this closes and new message says word is restarting for one type of crash. word restarts with blank doc 1 and event is finished. The second event says word is closing upon searching for "online solution" and that is what happens. finally note that closing any number of documents that are open in either .doc or .docx and then closing word with separate command will not ever cause a crash. I have repaired, reinstalled word, removed any 3rd party add-ins, templates and so on, deleted any temp files, cleared break points, cleaned VB project with a VBA cleaner. I have followed these solution steps as well that I found on some website: 1) Close all Word documents and the Word application 2) Do a search for the .pip files on C: 3) Rename all .pip Word related files to old_Word_11.pip or old_Word.pip located in: - C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_ID\Application Data\Microsoft\Office - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 -C:\WINDOWS\CORE\OFFICE_2003_MSI_LOCAL_XP\FILES\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE11 Still not resolved, when I did the search for the solution, this problem is mentioned several times on several websites but no one seems to have a valid solution. Can anyone suggest anything? I can only say that a couple of months a ago I had another user on another PCwith this very same issue and .pip solution worked for them, but it did NOT work this time.     - Date Calculation from form field I am a bit rusty, but here the situation. I have a word 2000 document that has a form field with the bookmark MotionDate that the user will enter a date. in the format of M/d/yy. I have another form field bookmarked ResponseDate, that I need to calculate a date of MotionDate + X amount of days, on the entry of the form field. Every time I try to open Word I get an error message and it will not open.
Not impressed with microsoft help at all.
