Hi,
I need your help.
I am using word 2002, 10.4524.4219 sp2. I encountered a
problem in the equation editor.
1. When I type 1e-3, it appears as 1e 3 ( the negative
sign is missing and it creates a long blank space).
2. When I wanted 3 x 3, it produce 3 . 3.
3. when I wanted 3 divide by 3 ( with divide sign), it
produce 3 | 3. etc.
I checked the style setting, I found that symbol font is
missing. I can only find MT symbol. Will this be the
source of the problem and how do I fix it?

In word, I can find both symbol and MT symbol.

Did you assign the Symbol font to the Symbol style?
