I have read the MS Word faq for this and none of those
solutions fit mine. I typed this in MS Word 97 and have
loaded Office 97 and word 2000. It doesn't open in
wordpad either.

The msg also tells me to check the file permissions for
the document or drive AND use the file open dialog box to
locate the document with the path name in parentheses.
Can anyone help me and prevent me from re-typing a 3 page
document.

David

Hi David,

In Norton go to Options and in the Miscellaneous section turn off
"Enable Office Plug-in".
