        • Word 2000 global template We have had Word 2000 for several years. Suddenly, everytime I exit it asks "Changes have been made that affect the global template, Normal.dot. Do you want to save those changes?" It asks this even if I open Word and close it with no keystrokes in the document. The Auto update document styles is not marked. We do have a server but the Office products are loaded on each individual C: drive. Any ideas? Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77587

        • Uninstall Works Suite I bought Works Suite 2001 to install on my laptop which then had to go back to Time to be fixed for another fault. As the Works Suite software was no longer being used by me I thought I could do my Dad a favour and install it on his PC, as he has had a machine only installed with WordPad for years. Now my intended helpfulness has completely backfired because I didn't realise that the disks would only work on the machine onto which they were originally installed. His computer is now virtually useless as anytime he tries to do anything (even use WordPad) he gets a pop-up demanding he enter the 15 digit Works Suite code that no longer seems to work with the programs. I've tried using System Restore to an earlier date and also Uninstalling Programs in the Control Panel but nothing seems to work. The software I installed was Microsoft WorksSuite 2001 (Microsoft Works Suite 2001 Setup, Microsoft Works 6.0 and Microsoft Word 2000SR-1). PLEASE can someone help so that he can get his PC back to how it was and be able to use WordPad to create documents again? Any help would be most gratefully received as I feel a complete klutz and was only trying to help! Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77582

        • Can't open saved Word 2000 docs Hi A client of mine is unable to open previously saved docs in Word 2000. If he tries this he gets a Winword error and Word shuts down. I have tried cleaning temporary files and typing winword /r in Start Run with him but it doesn't seem to have fixed this. All he can see when he goes to open these documents are lots of temp files stored with the ones he is trying to open. Does anybody have any other ideas? Thank you. • Microsoft Office:mac This might not be the right site to post this, but the whole customer sevice site is confusing. My problem: I purchased Microsoft Office for my Mac OSx a year or so ago. A recent problem with my Mac required me to send it into Apple to get it fixed. As a precaution, I copied some Word and Excel files to my wife's computer, and sent my Mac in for service. They fixed it, but had to replace the hard drive. When I got it back, I installed the Office:mac CD applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and copied my files back to my computer. When I tried to open them, however, I am asked to provide a "CD Key" from the back of the booklet I got with my software. I can't find the booklet -- I probably threw it away. Is there a solution to this? Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77558

        • A backgound grid Hi, Please help! A person was sent a Word document that opened with a grid (like graph paper) behind the text. We don't know if the grid was part of that document. Now most of her documents open with this grid in the background, especially new documents opened or received. We cannot access the grid to get rid of it. If she emails a document that contains the grid, the recipient does not receive the grid. Any ideas how we can get rid of it? Joyce Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77549

        • Text selected with mouse skips and jumps When I select more than a few paragraphs of text with my left mouse button it desekects previously selected text as I move down the page, usually where the formatting (margin, indent) changes, but not even there on a regular basis. After deselecting previously selected text, it selects more for a while, then deselects it, etc. I tried downloading a new mouse driver, but it didn't help any. I have click and type enabled, and the option to highlight an entire word. Whassup with this? I also just reinstalled Win2K before this problem cropped up. Or didn't crop. Whatever. • Word 2002 Windows 2000 SP 4 Word 2002 Error Signature: AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 10.0.2627.0 ModName: ppdfaddin.dll ModVer: 9.0.0.394 Offset: 00001cec The above is what I keep getting when I exit Word. I have sent this error messege to you several times but yet I have not got a specific answer on how to correct it. Also, I have started getting a "Visual Basic" error in Word. How can I fix that? One more thing: How can I disable an item in Word? When I go into Word and click on "About", there is a box I click on to see disabled items. If I could disable Visual Basic, I think that would fix my second problem. Any help would be appreciated. Pit Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77535

When I select "Macros" under "Categories" on the "Commands" tab of the "Customize" dialog, I can't read the macro names in the list under "Commands". The qualifiers to the macro name exceed the space availble in the box, and it is not possible to scroll right to see the the full name. • Word XP opens slow on some files Hi there, I have a P4 notebook with 192 MB Ram running XP Home and Office XP SP2. Normally opening a document works just fine but I have one document which takes a long time opening. The file is not abnormally big (100kb). It has nothing to do with the virusscanner and when I watch processes in the taskmanager while opening the document the system is almost 100% idle. When opening the document on another computer running W2K SP4 and Office 2000 SP3 it just runs fine. Can anyone provide me a solution? • Word viewer? My sister has WinXP (and a newer verison of Word, but not sure which). I have Win98 and only use wordpad.exe for my docs. In the past, when I needed to read doc files, I used to be able to read all fine but apparently WordView97 can't read newer versions. Is their a newer version of WordView? If not, is there some kind of convertor my sister can use on a doc before I get it from her that will make it compatible with Word97? OR is there another, simple option? Thanks, Joe Tag: disk space/memory message Tag: 77484

        • Cursor disregards top margin on open This just started happening in my Word 2002. When I open a new Word document, it opens in Print Layout view, as it should, but although the top margin is set at 1 inch, the cursor appears at the very top of the page. When I go to Print Preview and when I print, however, the text appears in the right place - 1 inch down. When I check the Page Setup, the top margin shows at 1 inch. Can you help fix this annoyance?
