Having just got Word2002 to stop taking ages to do things ("A
combination of removing the Office plug in for NAV and removing
most of Office seems to have worked" - yesterday's message), I now
have anew problem in that Add to dictionary has changed to being
grayed out. Any ideas how to get it back?

Tom

It possibly indicates that Custom.dic has been removed. But check the
settings in Tools, Options, Spelling and Grammar, Custom Dictionaries
button.

Dear Terry,

My hero appears again!

What had happened was that the custom dictionary was checked as UK
English, while I was doing a paper (to the best of my ability) in US
English. Now that I've changed default customer dictionary to US
English, it is working again.

I only have one custom dictionary apparently. Can I have a UK English
and a US English one and would I have to switch manually each time I
change the language for the main text?

Tom

You can create as many custom dictionaries as you need. Theoretically, if
you change the language in Word, it should enable the corresponding custom
dictionary. Custom dictionaries are actually plain text lists of words -
nothing special about them at all.
