how can I resolve this problem in Word?

I am having the same problem. My AutoRecover is set at 10 minutes, which
seems to be how often I get the message: Can not save while file is in use by
another process. Try saving the file with a new name. When I click OK, I then
get another message saying that AutoRecover has been postponed.

Using Word 2000 Service Pack 3

This was a known issue in Word 97. Even though you are using Word 2000
you may want to check this article and see if the same situation
