My letters are appearing on top of each other and I can't stop it. This is
not overtyping using the insert key by the way. Does anyone have any idea
why this is happening and how I take it off pleae?

Two possibilities I can think of:
In the Font dialogue, character spacing is set as condensed to a somewhat
high value.
The video drive is corrupted or has been switched inadvertently to the wrong
one.

Its a bug with the printer driver. You can usually sort it by switching the
Print Preview and then back to Layout View. If that doesn't work, close Word
and restart it.

But what you need is an updated driver from the printer manufacturer's
support site.
