    - Microsoft Word Windows XP As I had saved a word document to a floppy disk and left the disk in the computer, the word program was still open and the power went out. Now I cannot open the document from the floppy disk and cannot recover the document either. Any suggestions? It was alot of work done and now cannot open it.     - Insert Symbol Help...when I try and insert a symbol in a Word doc (insert > symbol), the document stops, wants to send an error report to Microsoft, and then recovers my document after shutting down.     - Bizarre Word 2002 c&p problem Whenever I copy some text in Word 2002, and paste it into Corel Draw 11, it is immediately recognised as Japanese text and the default Asian font (MS Gothic) is used. If I copy and paste from any other program (including Excel, Publisher, Wordpad, Notepad, Outlook) everything is fine and the standard Western font (Arial) is used. My old version of Word 2000 had no problems either. I don't think the problem lies with Corel, as I have changed nothing in the Corel setup, but Office 2002 was a recent upgrade.     - able to open word but not visible on screen When I try to open word in Office 97 it shows that it is open on the bottom of the screen but does not actually open on the screen.     - Windows Installer Hi, I'm running Windows 2000 professional (sp3) and was infected with the msblast.exe worm. After installing the patch and destroying the virus with antivirus software, I can't open Office 2000 applications. I get the following message: This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the location where you originally installed the application. The only option is to press "O.K." When I try to reinstall Office 2000, I get the following error message: This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package. Again, the only option is to press "O.K." I've also tried uninstalling the Office Suite, but I get the same error message: "This patch package could not be opened..."     - Cannot open Word Documents I am running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation with MS Office 2000. I've found that ever since I installed the patch for the latest popular virus, I have been unable to open *any* Word document.     - Docs don't open & temp files don't delete Hi, I am having problems opening various Word XP files. When I try to open these files, Word XP opens but then just hangs. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to cancel the process in the Task Manager. However, I have also noticed that after I do this that the temporary file that is initially created when I open the file is still there and not deleted. Any suggestions?     - Hyperlinks in Word 2002 do not save correctly Hyperlinks work until you save the word document. Changes the address of the hyperlink after the save. Control A, F9 fixes the hyperlink until you close word and return. Need a way to resolve hyperlinks in XP, this is the same in Excel. Get the error message, 'The address of this site in not valid.     - Normal.dot corrupt??? I have had a continuing problem with macros that I create using the recorder. These will work so long as I keep the current document open, but if i have to reboot my PC for any reason, the macros no longer work. I am creating these in Word 2002 using the Macro recorder, and saving to normal.dot. I have checked the Security level of the macro...it is set to "medium," which should allow me to save and use the macros. Yet when i reopen word...the macro file in normal.dot is empty. HELP!     - Error message in Word I am currently receiving a message " The margins are set outside of the printable area. Do you want to continue?" I would like to be able to answer Yes on the fly but I don't know how to access this error message ID#.     - Invalid Page Fualt When I close word I get the error message: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem pesists ----- In details it says: WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in Module WINWORD.EXE at 0167:3016f0ba. Registers: --- --- ---ect. In searching around the net I have found other page faults and fixes, But not this one. Since I am closing word anyway it appears to be just an inconvenient extra mouse click to close the message box and word. But it bugs me. Can anyone tell me what is going on?     - Corrupt file? I created a Word document which is a membership list for an organization. It has 300 names on it, and I created it in a table fromat. I then saved it, and emailed it to 3 people as an attachment. 2 of people can open the file just fine, the 3rd person opens it and it is blank except the title.     - Can't Save! Please Help Hi- I'm running MS Word 2000 in Windows 98. I received an error message reading "Saving the AutoRecovery file is postponed for [document name]," I clicked 'OK,' and since then I am unable to save changes to documents in MS Word. When I try to save, nothing happens. When I try to close the document, the program asks me if I would like to save changes, but clicking 'yes' simply leaves the document open without saving. Clicking 'no' closes the document without saving, of course. At one point I was able to create a new document and save it once, but was still unable to save it again after making changes. Now for some reason I can't even save or name a new document. Also, for a long time I have received an error message when opening files reading "Microsoft Visual Basic - An error occurred while loading 'ThisDocument'. Do you want to continue loating the project?" Other than having to click 'no' it never seemed to be a problem. Any ideas? I have an important project today and need to be able to save documents!     - Word/Publisher don't start after installing SP4 Yesterday in an effort to ensure safety from the Blaster worm I installed all the available WINDOWS 2000 PRO updates on 3 of my office computers (including SP4). Now both Winword.exe and MSPUB.exe exit with this error message about 4 seconds after starting: "WINWORD.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.     - template program commands keep showing Every time I open a word template or document(Word 2000) with a command embedded in it, e.g. "formtext", or a hyper link, I cannot update the field or see the hyperlink. I literally see the text "formtext" or "hyperlink". I cannot "fill in the blank field" for the formtext sections. I have used the documents in the past successfully, yet now cannot see the previously entered text, just a gray-shaded box that that says "formtext".     - Word will not start Hello, Earlier today, I opened a document in Word, just as I have done countless times in the past. I then attempted to open a file which was probably a text file, but not a WORD file. The WORD "intro" came up, but wouldn't go beyond that. The cursor kept "flashing" with the icon I chose for it to be while the computer is thinking. When I tried to CNTRL-ALT-DLT, I received a white screen telling me that I don't have enough resources to run the file. I could only exit by a hard-reset. If I try to start WORDor and WORD document, I keep getting the white screen asking me if I wish to quit the prsent application or continue. However, I lose functionality of the computer beyond this point. I downloaded the new virus definitions today, and it didn't find any. PLEASE HELP. I reinstalled WORD and the same thing occurs. I had to close word, I then restarted computer and now my document says that it is in use by another user and can only be opened in read-only mode.     - Word error messages when computer boots up I just installed Office Pro for XP on my newly wiped computer with newly installed XP. Now when I boot up my computer, I get two error messages instantly before I open any programs. The first says, "You cannot close Microsoft Word because a dialog is active. [I don't have Word open at this point!] Then I click OK, and behind that message is this one: "This file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature.     - Errors in Word when trying to save a document Hello. I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help me. Lately when I've been using Word I will click ctrl-s to save (to my hard drive, not a disk) and the following message appears: "There is an unreasonable disk error on file ~WRL2129. The disk you're working on has a media problem that prevents Word from using it. Try the following: try formatting another disk; or save the document to a disk." The problem is I am not using a disk in the first place, plus it loses my document and I don't know how to recover. Since I'm in the process of writing my thesis I've taken to emailing myself the documents, so thus far I haven't lost complete files, but it is still an enormous pain in the butt.     - Number List Tab Settings When using Word and making a list of items with numbers or bullets the first two numbers or bullets indent properly after pressing tab, then the number 1. then tab, 2. then tab. When typing 3. and all numbers thereafter the tab setting aligns to the right one tab stop rignt of 1. and 2. Looks like 1. one 2. two 3. three 4. four In the Menu bar under Format, AutoCorrect, General Document, AutoFormat as you type tab; both the Automatic bullet lists and Automatic numbered lists boxes are checked.     - document not available I have WIndows XP and OFFICE WP. AFTER downloading service packs one and two, the documents stored in WORD are no longer available. The documents are still on the computer, they are still intact, and WORD cannot find them or open them. Furthermore, I created a new document inside WORD, saved it, then tried to call it back and recieved the same message "Document not available". I am using default settings, have not moved or changed anything. Yesterday, when I double clicked on the MS Word shortcut on my desktop, MS Word would not open. I restarted the computer several times and the same problem.     - Word-XP Document hangs causing computer crash Hi. This problem is specific to MS Word (Microsoft Office XP and Windows XP). When I am in mid-use of a document, and briefly stop using it (E.g. going off to make a coffee for 5-10 minutes), I invariably come back to find the screen frozen and the computer hung (red light on computer tower is flashing to indicate system has crashed). I am forced to restart the computer. This does not happen when using non-Microsoft applications. This does not happen when I am in mid-use of MS- word. Any suggestions? Thank you.     - Word killed by Acrobat Pro 6 ? After upgrading to Acrobat Pro6 I can no longer open Word (Win XP, Office XP)without it immediately crashing. There is a problem with PDFMaker.dot since changing the name of that file eliminates the problem. But then I cannot make a PDF from Word. When I try to upgrade Office XP with Service Pack 1 (the instructions I get from the Office Help page)I get another error message as follows: "Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\config.msi\PT28.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor."
