 - file permission error Hi all, I get this file permission error (see link). I then re-save in a new name, type away for some time, and then it happens again. Sometimes I can type for a whole day w/o any problem, and sometimes it happens every 5 min.  - how to stop Word looking for old file servers I moved all my user files from an aging file server to a new one and now Word keeps looking for the old server when the doc files are accessed.  - Word 2007 constantly crashes Gradually, I noticed that Word 2007 would crash and restart. Recenlty it bgan crahing frequently, to the point to where a message screen appeared suggesting that Word be repaired. I inserted the disc and went through the repair function. Nothing changed, I cannot open a document without going through the Word file menu. I cannot edit without using my keyboard arrows to move the cursor; no copy, cut or paste functions. I have a newer computer, Vista OS, and I use word '97 from my "MS 97 Works CD". I was writing awayi when my word '97 suddenly froze. It would not respond. I activated my (12 ghosts) backup copy, but the same thing happen. My word was frozen. I rebooted, reinstalled my word '97 (twice), but on each setup I got the error message: "Setup has encountered a problem updating your system registry".  - Word 2007 - Cursor jumps to top of doc when saving in 97-2003 form Occasionally, my cursor jumps to the top of the document when saving a Word 2007 file in a 2003 or earlier format. This has nothing to do with a laptop keypad as we are using desktop machines. I have not seen it all of the time so I cannot isolate when it happens.  - Unable to open Word I am running Vista Home Premium using MS Office. There seems to be a conflict with with Windows Mail and Word. When I have opened Windows Mail before I attempt to open Word, Word will not open unless I open it from a document or at least it wont show that it is open.  - Your autocorrect-file \MSO1043.acl could not be saved Hello all, We are using MS Office 2007 Pro in our network for over a year now. Last week something strange starts happening. Newly created users (both on fresh installed and "old" installed pc's) don't get the c:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Office folder anymore. When creating a new profile (at first login and first start word) this folder is not created anymore. As a result the autocorrect-file is automatically created in the users home folder (my documents is redirected to users network share home folder). When both Word documents and Outlook email is opened, than the error message comes: Your autocorrect-file \MSO1043.acl could not be saved The file may be read-only, or you may not have permission to modify the file. Is this because files on h-drive could not be accessed by two applications at the same time (file lock?) Why is it that this default folder is not created anymore? Word 2007 is fully patched (SP1 + all patches up and until september 2008). I think it is caused by one of the last patches, since this problem was not there before.  - Word crashes on Save on one document only I am presently editing a large (100mb, 50 page) document in word, and upon editing today, and changes will not save. I recieve the error: "WINWORDS.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." This only happens on this document, and I have tried deleting large portions of the document to isolate what component is corrupt - but this is not east, and doesnt seem to be leading mr anywhere.  - Problem with Word Hiya I am using Microsoft Office professional 2003. It has works well for many years. However, last night it started to play up. When I click the icon to open up a new doc. I get the normal box in the task bar. It starts off saying Microsoft word, then changes to document1. However, a page does not open. When I click on an existing document, the same thing happens but the box in task bar has the files name. All other programs in office still work fine I have tried a repair, I have tried uninstaling and reinstalling the word. Nothing to date has sorted the issue.  - Disappearance of text inside table. In Word 2003, I have a table, in one of the columns, when I get to the bottom of the page typing in text, instead of the table continuing on to the next page and letting me continue to add text in that column, it just disappears. I can see the tops of the letters I'm typing, but as I type, the letters just don't go anywhere viewable. There is already a table on the next page, but usually it just moves that table to a new page with a page break and let's me continue typing as the table wraps to the next page so I can see the text, but as I said, the text is disappearing, and it doesn't go anywhere and the table on the next page is not affected in any way.  - Word could not create the work file... I googled many solutions to the problem, and still have Word 2007 showing the message: "Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable." I'm not annoyed by the message itself, byt I noted that some large files do not open, and some files open but instead of showing the images in them it shows: "The image cannot be displayed. Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image have been corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again." I tried to rename the Data subkey in the registry and renaming the Normal.dot, but after starting Word it hang for more than 10 minutes and I had to kill the process using Task Manager. It started working again after several restarts, but the startup error persisted. I tried to switch off all of the COM Add-ins using the Word Options -> Add-ins - Manage COM Add-ins, and it didn't help. I reinstalled MS Office, and it had no effect also...  - Word 2007 Running Slow After Using Track Changes, Spell Checker Hi: I'm running Word 2007 on Windows XP Professional on a Gateway PC with a Dual Core Processer with 4 GB of RAM. When I pull a document off the network and I run Track Changes then select Original, the cusor runs so slow. I tried saving the document to my local HD, reopened it and same thing. Have the same problems with Spell Checker. Anytime I open a document on the network I have the same problem. I found some sort of fix for a document opening slowly from the network on the Microsoft site that had me to the Registry some sort of a EnableShellDataCaching command, which I did but still no improvement. When you ever open a document from a network then save it to your HD does Word still think that the document is still a network document? Any ideas for a fix? THANKS!  - Saving to Network Share not working I am getting this error when trying to save to the network share e:\\test.doc cannot be found check your spelling or try a different path this does not happen when I have a previous document with the same name on the share already.  - Mail merge function, emailed documents lost information in "previe Hi, This is a quite odd problem but I have created a document (mail merge) that was sent to quite a large number of recipients. And now I have discovered that when the recpient saves the document on his disc, re-opens it and goes into "print preview" mode ALL "printed" mail-merge fields are lost and instead displaying the original field name (like <<name>>, <<adress>> etc). Is this a known bug or did I somehow make something wrong when I mailed the document (used the function "email mail merge", instead of the common "send to printer"...  - Edited normal.dot causing error message In Word 2003 I opened the normal.dot to change the default zoom to 100%. I saved and closed it. Now, whenever I try to open an attached Word Document directly from Outlook (when Word is not open in advance) I get a pair of error messages. The first says "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK and then close the open dialog boxes to continue." The dialog box it is referring to says "Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere. C:\documents and settings\...normal.dot" I can click OK on both and the program works normally. If Word is already open, there isn't a problem. Nor does opening a saved file cause a problem.  - error before closing I am using Word 2007 (part of Office 2007) on XPSP2 with all updates. Everytime I close Word I get a dialog saying there was an error and asking if I want to send a report to MS and if I want to recover my work and restart Word. Any ideas why this would be and how I can prevent it? It has been suggested this is related to an HP printer driver and to use a different default printer.  - Saving file fails after mail merge With Word 2003, sp3 and when trying to save a large file (ie 550 pages) after a mail merge, the following error appears: 'Microsoft Office Word: The save failed due to out of memory or disk space.  - Word 2003 Select text then back space or type over does not work. When I highlight a word in a sentence, I can not remove the word by typing over it or backspace. Highlighting and deleting is the only option. This is not an insert problem. So in the first sentence if I wanted to replace "word", I would go and highlight it and type "sentence".  - When I open MS Word, text already appears on the page Some one was using my computer one day and some how changed the settings to that every time I open a new word document the letters "Jnn" appear on the page. I've tried everything I know of to make it stop showing up but it still appears. I can easily delete it off the page but am getting tired of doing that every time. I finally found where it appears elsewhere. I went to File --> Properties and it shows up as the Title under the Summary tab. I've deleted it from there, clicked ok, and next time I open a new document it shows up again. This is on MS Word 2000. Does anyone have any idea how I can make this go away?  - Printing word with emebedded excel tables Currently we have a problem that when printint word 2000 sp-3 documents with embedded excel tables either on a printer or into a pdf document. The content of the excel tables in the printout is not consistent with what is displayed on the screen. The content is showing an older status of the excel table. Only opening and closing all excel tables by double clicking each table and saving the document prior to printing seems to solve the problem. The word documents are automatically generated from DOORS. Thus is quite a lot of work updating the word documents. Did somebody experience the same problem and knows the cause and solution?  - Cannot open docx file in Word 2007 Hi all, I received few docx files as e-mail attachments and could not open them even though I have Office 2007. I saved them on the hard disk, and then used the recovery option, but it did not help. I also downloaded Microsoft converter tool, but still no use. My MS Office Word does not allow me to do reghular operations any more. E.G.
I can type but not insert letter in the middle of a word, not highlight, not
erase portions of a text. When closing I get the message "MS Office wrod has
stopped working" and after Widows will check for solutions but nothing
happens. I tried restore to a previous version, but cannot get a date before
this happened. Excel and PowerPoint work fine. How do I get Word to its
previous working shape?

It suggests 2 problems but it may have a single solution. Run Regedit and
navigate to the Word DataKey and delete it. Word will automatically create a
new key when it is next started.
