When I open an existing Word 2007 document and work on it, I need to save the
changes I made to it before exiting Word. However, I cannot save the changes
in the same document. Word 2007 prompts me to save the changes as a new
document.
Is something wrong with my Word 2007 or with Word 2007? How to solve this
problem.

Is this a standalone computer or part of a network? The action is indicating
that the document you have opened is protected in some way against being
changed - Read Only?

It is a standalone computer and I did not save it as a read-only document.
Thanks anyway!

Have you got Office Business Manager installed? If so, uninstall it.
