Hi John,
If the error occurs when you print the first item to rule out is a
corrupt printer driver. Obtain an updated driver from the
manufacturer's web site and see if that resolves it.
I personally wouldn't use Word 97 without it being fully patched.
There were a *lot* of issues corrected in the patches.
