I recently upgraded a few workstations from Office 2000 to Office 2003.
There's a problem with some of the computers that can't open Word documents
when the file is double-clicked from Windows. Word opens, but it's grayed
out with no visible document. However, if you open a document from within
Word using the File menu, the document opens fine. Can someone tell me how
to fix this.

Try to re-register Word. Click the Start button on the taskbar, and then
click Run. In the Open box, type:

winword /r

and press Enter.
