    - Track changes crashes word I have a user who has to copy something from a webpage, paste it in word and then track the changes he makes to the document before sending it on. Everytime he tries to turn on tracking, word crashes. The log references an access exception for word. I tried saving the doc first and then turning on tracking but the same thing happens.     - Thumbnail view drives WINWORD.EXE CPU utlization to 95%+ In certain documents (the example I discoverd this in was a 20+ page document with a few drawing canvases), use of Thumbnail view drives utilization well over 90%+ even when doing nothing else. In fact, even if you change to view a different application, utilization remains well over 70%+ on my system. I'm using Office 2003 SP1 on Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 600m (Penium M 1.3Ghz, 512 megs RAM). Is this the right place to note bugs or is there another channel?     - Unable to open RTF files I've just upgraded a couple of PCs to Office 2003 from Office XP, and now that RTF files on our Netware (3.12) server won't open. When attempting to, we get the error message: "Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges". .DOC & .TXT files open OK. Saving the RTF file locally to the PC, then copying across to the Netware server also works OK, but when trying again to open the RTF file the error appears. We had no such issues with the Office XP installations. Also, Wordpad can open these RTF files without any problems.     - Why don't I see any choices when I click on the Edit tab? For some time I have been unable to see any choices on the Edit tab of Tools->Options in Word97. I so rarely clicked on it, I always thought it was a momentary problem, but now it's starting to bug me, because I *never* get any choices. It's a big blank tab. I'm wondering if it's a symptom of a larger problem. I just tried reinstalling Office97, but that didn't help. I'm clueless as to how to proceed to diagnose this problem. When I try to open this folder in Windows Explorer, it says that the folder is "not accessible" and that it is "corrupt and unreadable".     - Word document with tables. I'm getting an error message when I open a document that contains several tables. It reads something like: "One of the tables in this doument is corrupt.     - Extended ASCII Character Set characters converted during merge I have a problem where characters from the extended ascii character set get converted to Japanese characters during the mail merge process. My data source is a word document, as there is a known problem with these characters in txt files. The whole process is run using the Word API.     - Extended Character Set Characters in Merge data converted I have an application that uses the word API to create documents that can include barcodes. The characters required to generate a Code 128 barcode include characters in the extended ascii character set. I am using a word document as merge data source, I originally use a text file but this same problem occurs with text files. Since installing Office 2003, I find that the data from the merge field containing the special characters is being converted to some dodgy character set. If I open the data source word document, I get a dialogue box asking me what character set I would like to use to make the document readable. The default is set to Japanese (Shift-JIS), if I select Windows(Default) the document opens and shows the correct characters. I can only assume that this same conversion is happening during the merge process. Apologies for the long winded explanation. For some reason, when trying to insert an equation into a word document, if I use brackets, and follow it by a fraction, the brackets disappear.     - scanned document My old computer quit on me earlier this year. Prior to this I printed a hard copy of my resume. After purchasing a new computer I used the all in one printer to scan my resume. Since then I used my word processor to create an "office xp word 2003" version of the scanned reume.     - Word XP 2002 Spell check questions. Hi all, My XP word act weird recently. When I open or create a new document, then I will do the spell check after I finish writing. The language setting will switch to Dutch after finish the whole process of spell check. The weird thing is even I go to Tools and set language back to English, and it will switch back to dutch by itself. When It swicth to Dutch, then the spell check wont' work on my writing in English. I open the Word application and it works (office assistant appears) but
nothing else - no word display other than the document title bar at the
top... not een a blank page - just nothing as the existing screens are still
visable with only the document title bar at the top showing.

I've opend the document first to launch the application and opened the
application to launch the document and the same result.

NEVER seen this one - even removed and re-installed Office 2000 professional
- TWICE :-( so any ideas woudl be a Godsend.
