    - Crashing without saving My Word 2003 crashes on an almost daily basis - whenever I have large documents with tables and graphics. Anyway, I set the autorecover to every five minutes and yet when Word crashes and I recover the application is takes me back usually an hour or two and everything is lost.     - Word document opening problem When I open a blank Word document, the header has disappeared and the cursor is at the very top of the page. When I "open" the actual template, there is no problem, but opening a "new" document produces the abovementioned result.     - Printing Draw object problem Windows XP - Word 2000 - I set a custom size paper of 8.88 x 11.75, typed 7 letters of text, hit enter a few times, drew 1 oval with the oval drawing tool, copied it, and pasted it 10 times for a total of 11 ovals . I then drew 2 lines on one of the ovals. It shows exactly as drawn in print preview. However when i go to print, it only prints half of one of the 7 letters and none of the other 6 that I typed and anywhere from 1/2 to about 1/8 of the ovals.     - Mouse Locked up in editing area Hi I have gone thru the other posts on this site on this matter and nothing has worked yet for me. 1. Double clicking a doc file, opens the word 2007 app but the file is not loaded. 2. Drag drop file into word app, loads the file but mouse buttons (left and right) does not function in the edit area. In the toolbar they work fine. 3. Tried deleting the Normal.dot,dotx,dotm etc as suggested in some posts... did not work for me. 4. Opening in Safe Mode works fine. Also ran Diagnostics but no avail.     - Error message when clicking on document Lately, Word 2003 (on XP) has started to behave strangely. When I try to start Word by double-clicking on a document, I get this error message (translated from Swedish): "The command could not be executed because a dialog window is open. Click OK and close open dialog windows to continue." No dialog windows are open, and when I click OK, Word starts normally and the document opens. But when Word is already started, it is possible to open documents by double-clicking without any error messages. What has happened? And how can I get rid of this error message?     - Word 2003 locks up when typing, have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close I use Word 2003 for work. As I am typing, it will lock up and then will not respond and/or recover so I can recover my documents and then continue working. I usually have to type Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close the program and then have to retype whatever typing was lost from the last time I save the document. Very frustrating.     - Word 2007 B2TR Document Unavailable Every docx document i try to open on my local hard drive gives me an error in word saying the document is unavailable. All documents are on the local drive. I am using a notebook and I noticed this issue after my notebook ran out of power and shut down.     - Cannot Open word file. Hi, I have a word file with size 5.4MB and it contains MathType equations. Now after saving this file last time it doesn't open.     - how to completely remove word 97 WinXPsp2, word 97, and excel 97. Several days ago I got a BSD with the message "Stop 0x000000ed Uncountable_Boot_Volume." Rebooting, rebooting in safe mode, and command line did not help so I used my recovery disk. I have backups of my important files and I am trying to restore my computer setup to pre error status. I have used word 97 and excel 97 with win 95, 98, and xp. It works fine for what I do. So I reinstalled both of them and excel works fine but word gives me the "application has encountered an error and must close" message. I have removed and reinstalled word but I get the same message. I then removed word, ran disk error check which found a few bad locations, and then reinstalled word. Same problem. It might be a registry problem. I would like to completely remove word 97 and try again. I found the OFF97 article ID: 254250 that gives the steps to completely remove office 97. However, excel 97 seems to work and I would like to just remove word 97 if it is possible. If that is not possible, I will use the remove office 97 procedure, run error checks, and see if a reinstall works. I do not know what caused the boot error. Everything except word 97 seems to work.     - Solution to Word Runtime Errors!! I had been having a problem opening Word email attachements - I would get an error message: "Runtime error Program:C:\Program Files\ Microsoft Office\ Office 10\ WINWORD.EXE Abnormal program termination" Clicking on the "ok" button would close everything out. I posted a question on this site earlier, but the solutions seemed a little daunting to me. A trip through the Microsoft Knowledge Base didn't seem much better - I figured I'd end up doing more harm than good. I finally came across this site, though: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us It's a little program you can download from Microsoft called Guided Help. It does all of the troubleshooting and repair work for you. If you don't like what it does, you can undo it all by just running the program again and selecting "undo".     - Word problems after installing the Beta 2 Technical Refresh I installed the Office Beta 2 technical Refresh and Compatability Pack this evening. After this, have had a number of problems with the Office 2007 Beta I did not have before!! 1. Cannot open any of my Word 2003 files - message says 'file is unavailable' or 'file cannot be opened' despite having latest virus file definition for my Norton Antivirus + no corruption on files on various media 2. Message at startup says "Cannot open file pdf.dot and refworks.dot" despite both macro Add-Ins being disabled 3. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Message says 'Missing Bibliography Style Template' and when I click on 'Manage Sources', all my 220 citations have disappeared!!     - Word XP Spanish problems I have a user running Word 2000, who receives word documents by email froma colleague in Spain. When my user opens these docs (either direct from the email or after saving the attachment first) word closes.     - Cannot open Word files--just deleted Norton Anti-Virus yesterday I've been getting the same errors as I see others have posted about recently... The file _____________ is not available. I suppose I caused my own problem. Yesterday, I deleted Norton Anti-Virus 2003 because I kept getting some error message which told me that the CCL or something like that had failed and that it was from Symantec. Since Norton Anti-Virus was the only program I had from Symantec, I figured it was the source of the problem. At any rate, I hadn't used the Norton Anti-Virus for over a year because my subscription had expired and I have another virus program which works well.     - formular editor bug when I am editing the formulars using the formular-editor, I found such an error: 1. click the formular-editor symbol 2. in the formular-editor page, select "style->text" in the menu 3. enter utilization = (between "utilization" and "=" there is a blank) what I am expecting is that the formular should at least be look like "utilization =", but actually it looks like "utilizatio n =", it seems that a blank is automatically added between "utilizatio" and "n".     - Hex edit word document's password I recently lost a password to a MSword document i had saved and while trying to figure out a way to recover the password i came across these instructions on numerous websites: 1.) Open a protected document in MS Word 2.) Save as "Web Page (*.htm; *.html)", close Word 3.) Open html-document in any Text-Editor 4.) Search "<w:UnprotectPassword>" tag, the line reads something like that: <w:UnprotectPassword>ABCDEF01</w:UnprotectPassword> 5.) Keep the "password" in mind 6.) Open original document (.doc) with any hex-editor 7.) Search for hex-values of the password (reverse order!) 8.) Overwrite all 4 double-bytes with 0x00, Save, Close 9.) Open document with MS Word, Select "Tools / Unprotect Document" (password is blank) Apperently this is a loophole someone discovered that allows anybody to gain access to a protected word or excel document. But why the hell would you be hacking into a protected document to change the password if you can already open it to begin with?? This is so stupid.     - word 2003 slow start, or no start on fresh i I had a recent system failure so decided to take the opportunity to get a new hard drive and a fresh start. After loading Office 2003 everything was fine until I tried Word. An error message stated that Word failed to start last time, and then starts me in safe mode. After I close it, the next time I start Word it starts right away, but any subsequent start takes about 4 minutes to start. I've renamed Normal.dot to normal.old and it will start right away the next run, but after that it goes back to the safe mode start, or the 4 minute delay start. From what I can tell there haven't been any new macros, although I did install winfax, but I don't think it ran any macros, at least I can't find any.     - Why are menus flat and gray in Office 2003? When I first installed Office 2003, all the tool bars and buttons shared the look and feel (appearence) of the XP Pro settings in Windows. Now they all look flat and greyed-out. Functionality is unchanged, but they really look "cheesy" and boring. I've tryed resetting the windows appearance form XP to "classic" and back.
