    - how to completely remove word 97 WinXPsp2, word 97, and excel 97. Several days ago I got a BSD with the message "Stop 0x000000ed Uncountable_Boot_Volume." Rebooting, rebooting in safe mode, and command line did not help so I used my recovery disk. I have backups of my important files and I am trying to restore my computer setup to pre error status. I have used word 97 and excel 97 with win 95, 98, and xp. It works fine for what I do. So I reinstalled both of them and excel works fine but word gives me the "application has encountered an error and must close" message. I have removed and reinstalled word but I get the same message. I then removed word, ran disk error check which found a few bad locations, and then reinstalled word. Same problem. It might be a registry problem. I would like to completely remove word 97 and try again. I found the OFF97 article ID: 254250 that gives the steps to completely remove office 97. However, excel 97 seems to work and I would like to just remove word 97 if it is possible. If that is not possible, I will use the remove office 97 procedure, run error checks, and see if a reinstall works. I do not know what caused the boot error. Everything except word 97 seems to work.     - Solution to Word Runtime Errors!! I had been having a problem opening Word email attachements - I would get an error message: "Runtime error Program:C:\Program Files\ Microsoft Office\ Office 10\ WINWORD.EXE Abnormal program termination" Clicking on the "ok" button would close everything out. I posted a question on this site earlier, but the solutions seemed a little daunting to me. A trip through the Microsoft Knowledge Base didn't seem much better - I figured I'd end up doing more harm than good. I finally came across this site, though: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541/en-us It's a little program you can download from Microsoft called Guided Help. It does all of the troubleshooting and repair work for you. If you don't like what it does, you can undo it all by just running the program again and selecting "undo". I didn't need to do that, though, because it fixed my problem right away. Just thought I'd share this with anyone else who might be having similar problems. After this, have had a number of problems with the Office 2007 Beta I did not have before!! 1. Open a protected document in MS Word 2.) Save as "Web Page (*.htm; *.html)", close Word 3.) Open html-document in any Text-Editor 4.) Search "<w:UnprotectPassword>" tag, the line reads something like that: <w:UnprotectPassword>ABCDEF01</w:UnprotectPassword> 5.) Keep the "password" in mind 6.) Open original document (.doc) with any hex-editor 7.) Search for hex-values of the password (reverse order!) 8.) Overwrite all 4 double-bytes with 0x00, Save, Close 9.) Open document with MS Word, Select "Tools / Unprotect Document" (password is blank) Apperently this is a loophole someone discovered that allows anybody to gain access to a protected word or excel document. But why the hell would you be hacking into a protected document to change the password if you can already open it to begin with?? This is so stupid.     - word 2003 slow start, or no start on fresh i I had a recent system failure so decided to take the opportunity to get a new hard drive and a fresh start. After loading Office 2003 everything was fine until I tried Word. An error message stated that Word failed to start last time, and then starts me in safe mode. After I close it, the next time I start Word it starts right away, but any subsequent start takes about 4 minutes to start. I've renamed Normal.dot to normal.old and it will start right away the next run, but after that it goes back to the safe mode start, or the 4 minute delay start. From what I can tell there haven't been any new macros, although I did install winfax, but I don't think it ran any macros, at least I can't find any.     - word 2007 B2 TR - stops working Everytime I start word as a standalone it pops up a message that it has stopped working and offers to check for a solution. It never finds one. I did not see this until I updated to the TR. I am running on Vista 5728. The machine is part of a domain. Intersesting is though that it seems to work fine when using Outlook to create a message. Excel stops with the same error but only once in a while. I have done everything from a reinstall to actually wiping out the whole machine and starting from scratch. The result is the same. I have another machine, which is fine with the same version of Windows. It is not connected to a domain or using an exchange server. Any thoughts? I use Word 2003 for work. As I am typing, it will lock up and then will not
respond and/or recover so I can recover my documents and then continue
working. I usually have to type Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close the program and
then have to retype whatever typing was lost from the last time I save the
document. Very frustrating.
Any possible solutions to this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Possibly something as simple as a corrupt printer driver. Make sure that you
have the latest driver and then delete and reinstall the printer. If that
fails, follow the troubleshooting tips in
