OS = Windows 98
MS Office 2000 -- Problem is with both Excel and Word

I have the same products on both of my home computers. One
functions adequately -- the other does not.

I receive no error messages.

I can open Word or excel via any path and the result is
always the same. They both go through all of the motions
to open -- virus scan, setting up tool bars, pulling up the
document requested. After appearing to open and within
five seconds, the application closes. No error messages.

I have tried 1. uninstalling and reinstalling, 2. Repairing
via the MS Office CD, 3. Replacing the Normal.dot file with
the known working one.

How can I resolve this issue?

Thanks, Lee
