    - Traditional Chinese IME - problems inputting I have the global IME installed on my computer. PRC Simplified characters can be input using the kuanpin without issue, but I can't find a pinyin input method for Taiwan(complex) characters. I'm sure there must be one included in the package. Also, with the simplified characters, I don't have the normal character recognition as I type, but have to choose each single or pair of characters from the list. Why is this?     - cursor problem in Word 2003 This morning, I was working on my desktop (XP Pro, Office 2003) and suddenly the cursor in Word went berserk -- flying all over the screen, uncontrollable, froze the program, etc. Closing the program and reopening didn't help, but rebooting my computer solved the problem.     - Can't access address book I recently upgraded my computer to Windows XP and just now tried to open my address book on Word 2000, but have been unable to do so. The error message I get says Log on failed. You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Error code: Unspecified error.     - word 2003 formatting problems When i select a section of text and format it - bold, font size change, whatever, the whole doc changes formats. then i have to 'cntl z' and the selected text stays the way i want, the rest of the doc goes back to where it was before. this is a really big hassle and slows me down. it must be a bug.     - Word 2000 Freezes I am running Word 2000 on a two year old Dell with Windows ME. If I try to open Word by clicking on its desktop icon, go to Programs and then Word, or go to an existing Word document in My Programs or on a floppy, I get the same results. A small rectangular window appears stating Microsoft Word 2000. This program is registered to xxxxx, Product I.D. xxxxxxx, Copyright xxxxx. While the cursor is still movable, I can't remove this window or take any other action. I have to power off the system and restart again. I have tried the following to correct the problem: 1. Uninstall and reinstall Word, and restart the computer. 2. Use the System Restore feature of Windows and set the date back to when the system worked properly. Neither of these steps has helped. I have found a "back door" approach to get into Word and existing Word documents (but would like to solve the problem). If I open Works Task Launcher, then select Open a New Word Document, Word opens and I can create a new document, or I can go to File and Open and bring up existing Word documents in My Documents or from a floppy.     - MS Word 2000 freezes/locks up ... MS Word 2000 freezes/locks up when editing/viewing document. I have formatted the hard drive and started from scratch ... issue still resides after MS Word is installed. Freezes/locks up when document is all ready open and being viewed or edited. Not user or document specific. No A/V program is installed. Printer is installed and video card has updated driver. Word 2000 will lock up/freeze in Safe Mode and with "/a". Have run MS Office2k Windows Registry cleaner and problem still resides. Have run chkdsk /f and done defrag and still same problem.     - System.InvalidCastException: QueryInterface for interface Word._Application failed. I am developing an application to perform an automated mail merge using MS Word 2000 (version 9), however when installing Visual Studio .NET, the application installed the core components from the MS Office object model for Office XP (version 10). So when the code is compiled, it is compiled using the Word (v9) DLL and the Office (v10) DLL, but when it is deployed to the server it fails. This is caused by the server only having Word (v9) and Office (v9) installed. We need to also install the core Office XP (v10) components on the servers as well. I am tring to figure out a way to do this in a clean way. One option would be to install VS .NET onto the server. This is, in my opinion, overkill to get a few DLLs onto the sever, but it works. Does Microsoft have a way to install only the core Office XP components? Has anyone else found a workaround for this problem?     - Word XP will only open in safe mode.... At my workplace, we upgraded a user from Word 2000 to Word XP. He was getting that ignorant, Microsoft- inspired, "macro's are being disabled" error message and he tried to fix it himself. I'm not sure what he did, but now if you try to open Word, it says that Word has encountered a serious error and would you like to start in safe mode? If you say yes, it comes up in safe mode. If you say no, you get that "send error report to Microsoft" message. I've tried un-installing and re- installing, nothing. I've tried the "detect and repair" function in both Word and from the Office XP CD, no help there. I've deleted the "normal.dot" file, nothing again. Interestingly enough, I can log in under the "Administrator" account and Word works fine! And to top it off, this user IS an Administrator of his local pc! Unbelievable....     - "select" or "highlight" function will not quit My computer is using a pentium 4 chip, with 512M of RAM, Windows XP Professional, Office XP Professional, a Trackball Explorer 1.0 PS2/USB compatible mouse (I just downloaded and installed the latest Trackball mouse Intellipoint software). I am having a problem with the "select" or "highlight" function becoming "stuck" intermittently, but not a lot of the time. (This only started occurring within the last month or so.) I don't know if this is a Windows XP Professional or Office XP problem, but sometimes when I select text in Word 2002, the select function will not turn off. The problem, however, is not limited to Word. The select function also sometimes stays on or "sticks" in other applications like Quicken or Timeslips and on the Windows XP desktop, such that as I move the mouse cursor, all of the desktop icons become selected. No matter how many times I click the cursor, the select function will not quit and return to normal. I have to reboot the computer to get a fresh start whenever it occurs. I have also run Norton Utilities from Norton System Works 2003, done a Scandisk, a Disk Doctor, and a One-Button check, but none of the utilities has shown that there is a problem.     - Caret disappears at 0 blink rate (XP) Windows XP, Word XP. Control Panel -> Keyboard -> Cursor blink rate -> None. With these settings when I hit return to begin a new paragraph, my caret (AND the mouse pointer!) disappears. The same thing for typing backspace at the beginning of every line (inside a paragraph everything works OK, this behaviour is only to see when moving caret to the next/previous paragraph). I have nothing against mouse cursor disappearing (this is convenient), but disappering CARET drives me crazy! If this is an erratic behaviour, I would like some feedback on how soon this will be solved. If this is a FEATURE, then please tell me how to turn this off... Thanks.     - word does not open in only 1 profile for some reason or other, word will no longer open when i use my primary administrator profile.     - strange cursor problem Hi, Recently my a strange cursor problem occured to my word 2002. When I type something, the mouse cursor disappears immediately.     - Normal Formatting has changed My computer had a glich in the middle of a word doc. When work restarted, the document doesnt display the margins at the top or botton of the page in "outline" view. The cursor appears to be at line 1 of the page ( on the screen).     - Word 2000 Pro Crashes I have just installed office 200 Pro and any time I try to open word, it crashes. I have tried to open in the troublshooting mode using the winword.exe /a but the the same problem occurs. This is the same with the other office programs, excel, powerpoint, access and the others.     - Word 2002 icon is missing I installed Works Suite 2002 some time ago. It included Word 2002. I recently had a problem so I uninstalled and re-installed Word 2002. Now I cannot find the icon anywhere. It is not on the desktop nor the applications menu. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing both Works Suite and Word multiple times. But I still cannot get to the Word 2002 program. All of the other applications seem to be there fine. One more thing, if I go to the Control Panel ==> Add or Remove Programs Widows displays Word 2002 and will let me remove it. Therefore, the application appears to be loaded.     - Word 2000 start up error After downloading and installing Adobe Reader 6.0 I get an error every time open and close Word and Excel. In Word I get "Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec" In Excil I get "Compile error in hidden module: AutoExecNew" How do I fix this? First I deleted the Normal.dot file - didn't help.     - Converting to Adobe Acrobat - Word error I have been using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 (distiller) to convert Word documents to PDF format. The document I am working on now has quite a few internal hyperlinks and cross- references. I am trying to convert it and Word keeps aborting with "Runtime Error. Winword.exe abnormal program termination". The only way I can convert it to PDF the way it stands is if I turn off the Convert Document Cross-Links option in Acrobat Conversion Settings. That of course defeats the purpose of having the cross-links in the document! I was able to convert the same document a few days ago when I tested it. Since then I have 1) upgraded IE to 6.0, and 2) added another chapter to the document with more hyperlinks and cross-references.     - Scrolling I have 2 PCs configured exactly the same. On One PC when I scroll through a document it runs smooth as is supposed to. On the other the the document jumps 3-4 lines or pages and is hard to read. These PCs had recently been reformatted and reloaded. Previously the other was hard to scroll.     - MS Word 2000 freezes I run Windows 98 (not SE) and installed Office 2000 recently. MS Word opens fine but I cannot use any of the utility features such as page set up. As soon as I click on page set up Word freezes up and I have to use TaskBar to get out of it. TaskBar says Word is "Not Responding". I never had any trouble with Word 97. I have run antivirus, defragged, uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2000, downloaded and installed patches from the MS site and it still continues.
