Word documents opened from my old system (Word 2000) displayed lozenges or squares for each character. Ordered and installed new Office 2003 Student & Teacher by loading key.     - Error when closing Word 2007 and HP drivers Hi, I know how to prevent error message when closing Word 2007 with HP drivers. I only have to dont set printer HP as default printer. Hp does't have others solutions for the photosmart Hp printer. Now I have to select manualy the right printer when I want to print something with my computer.     - MS Office 97 Professional Edition-Word Print & Uninstall/Install P I have MS office 97 professional, which has been running fine on my Vista PC, until recently. It now won't let me print any word files. It appears to send the file to the printer and then shows the file being deleated on the print monitor. I have tested the printer (Brother MFC-620 CN) with a test print page and it works ok and also prints other documents such as works. I have tried to deinstall and reinstall using my original disk with the CD code which is recognised properly, but it doesn't find currently installed Office programmes and then prompts me to install the whole office suite again instead of allowing me to uninstall first. At then end of the reinstallation it comes up with the following error message. Setup parse error in initialize pass object ID 11005 regoleAu CAH: oledlregisterserver call failed The only thing I have done recently that may or may not have anything to do with this problem, is to delete all files from my Temp folder in Windows.     - broken display of hyperlinks and page numbers A few weeks ago, my Word application began misbehaving and I have not been able to figure out how to fix the problem. In the past, when I typed in a web address, such as www.google.com in a Word document, Word would display the link in a blue color and underlined (I believe), and then if I clicked on the link, it would launch a browser. Now, when I type in an address such as www.google.com and hit return, the display reads {HYPERLINK "http://www.google.com"} and the browser autolaunch no longer works. This also effects other references, such as page numbers. This is driving me crazy because it messes up many of my documents. WHat is the fix for this?     - "Doc Map listing things it shouldn't" Back to year 2005 ï?? I found in the newsgroups the following about Word 2003: There is a known issue with the Document Map which causes it to add outline levels as direct formatting to any text that looks like headings. You can press CTRL+Q to remove the direct paragraph formatting. But in the long run, it is probably wiser to use Outline View instead of the Document Map. I'm writing a very long book with Word 2007 and I have the same problem. CTRL+Q appears to solve my Document Map problem, however every time I save and close the document I have the same problem.     - Copy and Paste to microsoft works from internet browser I tried to copy and paste from my Internet browser to a blank works page (.wps) and get a message that reads> The information you copied exceeds the limit for pasting into the word processor. I get the same message even if I try to paste only one word copied from the browser. Is this a problem common to Microsoft Works - or do I not have my Vista system configured properly.     - Word 2003 Type mismatch error Every time I start Word 2003, either from double-clicking a .doc file or the Word icon on my desktop I get a small popup headed ZnWordAddIn with the message "Type mismatch". If I click "OK" it goes away and everything seems to work normally. I'm using Office Pro 2003 SP2, and just updated to SP3 - but it made no difference. I'm running XP Home on a P4 Prescott 2.8 with 1GB mem and heaps of HDD. Open a document originally created by Word 2003 (*.doc) that contains an equation created with Equation Editor. Letâ??s refer to this document as W2003.doc. Copy and Past equation in W2003.doc into W2007.docx and save W2007.docx. Close all documents. Attempt to open W2007.docx. The following error message is produced: "The Office Open XML file W2007.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents. Details: Unspecified error Location: Part: /word/documement.xml, Line 2, Column 1984. Now, first open W2003.doc, and then open W2007.docx. It opens without a problem. I have also tried opening other Word 2003 documents first and W2007.docx does appear to open without a problem with some of those documents, but not all. Close all Word documents. Now undock laptop and reopen W2007.docx. It opens without a problem. Now, shutdown laptop. Redock and attempt to open W2007.docx. Sometimes this will be successful. If not, then disconnect one monitor and attempt to open again. It should open with a single monitor. Next do the same thing with the other monitor.     - Unable to insert pictures from my Nikon D50 camera into Word 2002 In preparing my annual Christmas letter I discovered I am unable to insert digital pictures from my new Nikon D50 camera into my Word 2002 document. I only get a blank box with a small red X in the corner. I have not had this problem with previous cameras. Interestingly enough, I tried the same activity on my Works word processing program and the same pictures appeared with no problems.     - Two instances of Word 2003 in Task Manager? Hi I am working with Word 2003 (MS Office Academic). I have noticed, after Word (or indeed any other Office application) freezes, and I open Task Manager, that two instances of Word are listed under the Task field, both of them listed as "Stopped running" or something similar (under the Status field.     - error message when closing Word 2007 Hi, First of all, excuse my bad english. I saw messages with the same trouble then mine. I have Office 2003 before and now Office 2007 professional plus. The error message appaire when I try to close Word 2007. The error message it's very close of the others except the faulting module (my driver of HP C5280 is newers) and the fault address.     - Opening file in MyDocuments My MS Word program has suddenly started to do something strange. Whenever I try to open a Word document in My Documents or in a separate file therein I get an error message "Windows cannot find "C:\My Documents\File.doc." Then I have to search for the file and when I click on the found file it opens OK. Somehow a disconnect has occurred between Word and MyDocuments. I always have to search for the file first before I can open it. I am using Word 2000 in Windows Me on an old Inspiron 3800 Dell laptop.     - After accepting all changes, I can't save the document... I've been editing a lot of documents recently with no problem at all (Word 2007). Today, however, sections of the document would turn black, when I scrolled down or up a page, the black went away. And then came back. Over and over. Later, I accepted all changes to the document (there were MANY) and tried to save it, but the program hung and would complete the save. Finally, I had to highlight a few paragraphs at a time, accept those changes, and save. I repeated that procedure all the way through the document and finally was able to save a completely edited version.     - word doc fails to print the bottom half of the last line of text I have a HP L7780 all in one. It does not happen with all documents, but it is a frequent occurance that the bottom half of the last line of text will not print. I checked with HP today - after going through several things they said it is a Microsoft problem. I did download the latest printer driver after my conversation with them, and it did not solve the issue. I have Vista, and MS Word 2007.     - Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack troubles I've got a problem and I think I know the source but I wanted to check in and see first if I'm alone and second if I'm not, what others have done to solve it. Here's the problem: My employer just rolled out installation of the 2007 office compatibility pack from Microsoft to our entire user-base (apparently they intend to upgrade users in waves over the next year to 2007 but for users now using 2000 and 2003 they wanted to prepare us). I've written a handful of applications in VBA (some in Excel and some in Access) which have been useful for a number of people here at work. Since the "upgrade" this last weekend to the compatibility pack, I've noticed some serious problems and some less than serious problems. First, in word (a less than serious problem) I've noticed that the little squiggly lines under misspelled words are now randomly closer together for certain words in a document... instead of seeing the vvvvvvvv under the misspelled word I'd see more like a darker thicker red underline... though not through the document... just under random words. Then in excel, I've used the VBA function to suppress screen updates while the code is running and then re-enable screen updates when the code completes. This used to work really well. Post-update the system still works though the menus and buttons across the top of the screen no longer update when the code finishes running (something it used to do). Finally, in access, I've noticed that on forms where I have a field for a hyperlink, if the hyperlink is to a location locally (like ".\filename.doc") I have no problem but if the link is to a web address (like "http:\\www.google.com\") the font doesn't map right to the cursor location. If I place the cursor in front of a given letter in the address and attempt to change something I invariably select the wrong character (ie not the character displayed on the screen as selected). Our network techs had never seen anything like this before. They've offered to uninstall the compatibility pack on my system... but this wouldn't help anyone else. They've offered to install 2007 on my system now and not wait for the rollout later but again, only helps me and not the users of my apps. Before I capitulate to one of their whack-a-mole solutions I thought I'd check with the board and see if anyone else has seen anything like this and if anyone else has a solution to these problems. I'm intending to cross post in an access.gettingstarted and a excel.programming as well... but if you have any suggestions of where better than "application.errors" to place this post, please respond with that info as well.     - Word 2003 Total failure Ok, Word 2003 (SP3) on my computer (XP SP2) is having a serious problem today. When I open a document, be it a saved document or a new blank page, I get an unspecified error message saying just that Word has encountered an error and needs to close. It gives the option to recover my document, but if I do that it only produces the same error again. Here's what I've done so far to fix it (and failed): 1Basic restart of the computer - no effect. 2Sent error report and followed the link to help there, which brought me to Office Updater. I downloaded and installed the update (which was actually only for Outlook) - no effect 3 Tried to repair Office through the add/remove programs menu.     - Custom dictionary emptied itself Using Word 200 on Windows XP: I was spell checking a simple document and went to add a new Word to my custom dictionary. I got "The custom dictionary is full. The word was not added" error message. When I went to check the dictionary to see if it was overly huge, It was empty, with a size of 0 KB, modifed at the precise time I had received teh error message. Any idea what happened?     - "Enter network password" popup over HTTPS Hi, i am having an issue with some documents that have to be downloaded from our production server, the things is, everythigns was working fine, we had a client side script that called the word.application ActiveX and then opened the documents, from the server, saved them locally, and them merged them in a single file, after all this, word.applciacion came up visible, ready to print. BUT We installed a SSl certificate on the server, and then suddently, "ENTER NETWORK PASSWORD" popup started to show, the users dont have any password. What is happening? How can i disable these popups? i dont think this in in the server-side, i thing maybe som browser settings apply over secure connecitons that does not allow these conecctions, any suggestions?     - Error with Italics font - PLEASE HELP On another PC in my office we have found that when a word is styled at Times New Roman, Size 9, Italic... it shrinks, but bring it up to a size ten it is fine. Change the font to Bodini its fine. It is only when it is in that exact format that it shrinks to and unreadable thing... Any thoughts??? I have been plugging away at this all morning and am stumped.     - Bug in Tables Hi We have discovered a bug in Word 2007 running under XP sp2. When selecting some text within a table, and changing the formatting (ie colour/bold etc) it changes the whole document. If you then 'undo' the action, then several things may happen, either -document returns back to normal, and your font is changed as you expected - document including your selected text returns to normal, after which time, you are then not able to change the formatting of the selected text, unless you go and do something else, and try again.     - Error Opening a Word Mobile File I had a word 2003 document emailed to me that will open fine in Word 2007 on my dekstop, but on my Windows Mobile 6 device I get an error when Word Mobile starts to open that says, "An error occured. The document could not be opened." (Occurred is really misspelled in the error message as occured.). Other documents open in Word Mobile, it just seem to be this one file.     - Normal.dot keeps getting corrupt When I delete Normal.dot, Word opens fine. If I close and open Word without deleting Normal, the splash screen just suits there without launching. Then once Winword process is killed, I'm offered to open in Safe Mode on next launch, which launches. Yet - if Normal is deleted after each launch - Word launches just fine.     - Word 2007 and 3rd party software Got two unrelated sites, unrelated third party software but similar Word problems. In both cases word documents are saved to a server, and on both the server and local machines the documents can be opened, edited, printed saved etc, but once you start up the software and then try to open the documents, this is where the problems start. On one you cannot open the file as it is being declared corrupt, please open the document and test and repair it. This happens after you originally generate the letter/ document and save it. If the Word 2007 machine opens the doc a 2nd time all appears ok, but you cannot open it a 3rd time, neither with Word 2007 or any other machine, same problem, check, test and repair, yet as I have said if you browse directly to the file you can open it fine. On the second site, again word is fine, you can open, edit close and print. Once you open the doc on the PC and then go to save it you get an error EOALPHABETICARABICARABICABJADARABICALPHABATHTTEXTCAPSCARDTEXTCHARFORMMATCHI (Letter_20071123_105223.doc) You can open word, outside of the application, copy the text from the 'faulty word doc' paste it into the good version and save that. I realise they are different problems, but it just seems odd, 2 3rd party apps, with Word problems. Company 1 is looking into it, company 2 is saying, not our problem its a windows problem, re-install everything and the problem will be fixed. Anyone got any ideas?     - Page Preview & Table of Contents In Word 2003, I create a table of contents and everything seems to work fine - all the page numbers are correct for the page of text. When I look at it in page preview, however, all the pages show (on the TOC) as page 1. I then have to close the preview, close the document, reopen it, and click on F9 to redo the TOC. I used a trial version of Microsoft Works '07 and eventually decided I didn't
want to spend the money just yet. Following the expiration of the trial
period, I uninstalled the '07 product so that it wouldn't take up space on my
hard drive. Unfortunately, it appears to have also removed Word '03, which I
use constantly. My hands have been tied for 3 days, and I've tried everything
-- including resetting my computer to a previous date. All to no avail.
Will I really have to buy Word '03 and start all over again? I'm at wit's
end.
