hour glass pops up every few seconds as if system is
trying to save. This only happens with Word (Office
2002). This started recently. Scanned, defragged,
reinstalled XP, etc. -- still have the problem.

Don't know if this applies but the following problem and solution
cropped up a while ago.

All,

The solution has been identified. It is due to the latest
Brother Laser printer driver. In my case, it is the
latest version of the Brother HL-1440 driver. I removed
the printer, reloaded the original driver which came with
the printer (replacing an updated version obtained from
the brother website) and the problem has ceased.

Thanks to all who replied with this problem. I would
never has suspected the printer. I also don't recall
updating the driver.

with gratitude,
rmd
