    - Autocomplete not working Autocomplete will not work unless I re-enter the autocomplete entry every time I use the computer. Once it is re-entered, it works fine, but the old ones do not. I get no suggestions, nothing. This happened once before, and I don't remember what was wrong with it or where I found the answer to fix it.     - Word keeps appearing This is a new problem after Norton 360 V2 is loaded and Norton denies it is its problem. They say it's Microsoft's problem. Every time I open Outlook, a version of Word shows up in my task manager though I haven't opened it and it isn't available on my screen.     - Disappearance of text inside table. In Word 2003, I have a table, in one of the columns, when I get to the bottom of the page typing in text, instead of the table continuing on to the next page and letting me continue to add text in that column, it just disappears. I can see the tops of the letters I'm typing, but as I type, the letters just don't go anywhere viewable. There is already a table on the next page, but usually it just moves that table to a new page with a page break and let's me continue typing as the table wraps to the next page so I can see the text, but as I said, the text is disappearing, and it doesn't go anywhere and the table on the next page is not affected in any way.     - Word could not create the work file... I googled many solutions to the problem, and still have Word 2007 showing the message: "Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable." I'm not annoyed by the message itself, byt I noted that some large files do not open, and some files open but instead of showing the images in them it shows: "The image cannot be displayed. Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image have been corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again." I tried to rename the Data subkey in the registry and renaming the Normal.dot, but after starting Word it hang for more than 10 minutes and I had to kill the process using Task Manager. It started working again after several restarts, but the startup error persisted. I tried to switch off all of the COM Add-ins using the Word Options -> Add-ins - Manage COM Add-ins, and it didn't help. I reinstalled MS Office, and it had no effect also...     - Word will not open When I attempt to open a Word document (or just open Word), it tells me that it failed to open. Occasionally it attempts to open an MS Office Prof'l Hybrid 2007, but that doesn't change anything. Yesterday, I could not open Outlook or Excel, and then today those apps opened normally.     - Word 2007 Running Slow After Using Track Changes, Spell Checker Hi: I'm running Word 2007 on Windows XP Professional on a Gateway PC with a Dual Core Processer with 4 GB of RAM. When I pull a document off the network and I run Track Changes then select Original, the cusor runs so slow. I tried saving the document to my local HD, reopened it and same thing. Have the same problems with Spell Checker. Anytime I open a document on the network I have the same problem. I found some sort of fix for a document opening slowly from the network on the Microsoft site that had me to the Registry some sort of a EnableShellDataCaching command, which I did but still no improvement. When you ever open a document from a network then save it to your HD does Word still think that the document is still a network document? Any ideas for a fix? THANKS!     - Inability to Delete Text by Highlighting It I don't know what I did, but I can no longer delete text in the following way: highlight the text and then start typing. Ostensibly the text that you start typing will delete the highlighted text. Or, I also can't highlight text and then delete it by pressing the "backspace" button. It's really annoying.     - Excel and Word Mail Merge ROW Limitiation Hi, I have an Excel spreadsheet and I am merging it in a Word document. However, the Word merge is stopping at row 923 in the Excel spreadsheet.     - Saving to Network Share not working I am getting this error when trying to save to the network share e:\\test.doc cannot be found check your spelling or try a different path this does not happen when I have a previous document with the same name on the share already. I am using Word 2007 and have tried saving as .doc and also as .docx and neither one seems to matter. This error does not occur if I am saving it to the local hard drive.     - Mail merge function, emailed documents lost information in "previe Hi, This is a quite odd problem but I have created a document (mail merge) that was sent to quite a large number of recipients. And now I have discovered that when the recpient saves the document on his disc, re-opens it and goes into "print preview" mode ALL "printed" mail-merge fields are lost and instead displaying the original field name (like <<name>>, <<adress>> etc). Is this a known bug or did I somehow make something wrong when I mailed the document (used the function "email mail merge", instead of the common "send to printer"...     - Edited normal.dot causing error message In Word 2003 I opened the normal.dot to change the default zoom to 100%. I saved and closed it. Now, whenever I try to open an attached Word Document directly from Outlook (when Word is not open in advance) I get a pair of error messages. The first says "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK and then close the open dialog boxes to continue." The dialog box it is referring to says "Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere. C:\documents and settings\...normal.dot" I can click OK on both and the program works normally. If Word is already open, there isn't a problem. Nor does opening a saved file cause a problem.     - error before closing I am using Word 2007 (part of Office 2007) on XPSP2 with all updates. Everytime I close Word I get a dialog saying there was an error and asking if I want to send a report to MS and if I want to recover my work and restart Word. Any ideas why this would be and how I can prevent it? It has been suggested this is related to an HP printer driver and to use a different default printer.     - Saving file fails after mail merge With Word 2003, sp3 and when trying to save a large file (ie 550 pages) after a mail merge, the following error appears: 'Microsoft Office Word: The save failed due to out of memory or disk space. (C:\...\(filename.doc).' The machine has a 2.2GHz processor and 2GB of ram along with 50GB of free disk space, so we suspect something else is causing the problem. TIA for any help on this one ...     - Word 2003 Select text then back space or type over does not work. When I highlight a word in a sentence, I can not remove the word by typing over it or backspace. Highlighting and deleting is the only option. This is not an insert problem. So in the first sentence if I wanted to replace "word", I would go and highlight it and type "sentence".     - When I open MS Word, text already appears on the page Some one was using my computer one day and some how changed the settings to that every time I open a new word document the letters "Jnn" appear on the page. I've tried everything I know of to make it stop showing up but it still appears. I can easily delete it off the page but am getting tired of doing that every time. I finally found where it appears elsewhere. I went to File --> Properties and it shows up as the Title under the Summary tab. I've deleted it from there, clicked ok, and next time I open a new document it shows up again. This is on MS Word 2000. Does anyone have any idea how I can make this go away?     - Printing word with emebedded excel tables Currently we have a problem that when printint word 2000 sp-3 documents with embedded excel tables either on a printer or into a pdf document. The content of the excel tables in the printout is not consistent with what is displayed on the screen. The content is showing an older status of the excel table. Only opening and closing all excel tables by double clicking each table and saving the document prior to printing seems to solve the problem. The word documents are automatically generated from DOORS. Thus is quite a lot of work updating the word documents. Did somebody experience the same problem and knows the cause and solution?     - Cannot open docx file in Word 2007 Hi all, I received few docx files as e-mail attachments and could not open them even though I have Office 2007. I saved them on the hard disk, and then used the recovery option, but it did not help. I also downloaded Microsoft converter tool, but still no use.     - Hovering over Hyperlinks I posted this back on 9/4/08 under word general questions but no one answered me there figured i would try a different thread. Please let me know if you have any idea on what to look at. Hello! I have a question about hovering over hyperlinks and track changes in word. Currently in Office XP (Word) when you hover over a hyperlink or a track change it displays the link or the authorâ??s name, date, and time it was edited inside a box. In Word 2003 when you hover over this, the box flashes by and doesnâ??t stay up more then an half of a second. Where can I make the change to make this stay up longer? I have Office 2003 with Service Pack 3 installed on my machine. I understand that I can turn on the reviewing pane and see it this way, or turn on the bubbles on the right side, but this doesnâ??t fix my hover over issue.     - Keyboard Locked on Microsoft Word I am running Windows Vista and open opening the program the keyboard locks. I cannot type anything in Word. I've read that it may need to be activated and that if it already is activated there are steps to take. I clicked on the activation button of my Word but I didn't get a pop up saying it was activated, nor did the activation wizard start.     - Updating cross referencing not working When I update cross-reference (select all/ctrl A, f9/right click and updated my cross references do not update. For example, in the document "see below on page 27" should be up dated to "see below on page 29." What is interesting is that the hyper-link (select "27" and ctrl. click) will take you to page 29. However, this will be no use for the printed document, which, after all, is the most important document. The same is true for references to foot notes. (go to n. 25 should be go to n. 28 after updating, and ctrl. click will take you to n.28). You probably have an international keyboard layout selected. In such a
setup, the apostrophe/quote key is a "dead key" that doesn't register until
you press another key.
