Here is what we have run into.
When Word is opened up and you have one document open,
you typically can close the document, but leave Word open.

However, when you are using Word as your outlook email
editor and also have Word open you cannot leave MS Word
open when you close a document.

Is this an error? I can't find anything on it. If
someone has an idea, I'd appreciate your advice.
We are using office 2003.

Thanks,
Craig

In fact, Word is still running (check the Task Manager) but hidden from
view. Just click the Word icon and it will open in a flash.

I understand and I know word is running in the background
via outlook. However, is there a workaround for this.
One of our users likes to keep the actual Word
application open even if no documents are open, but can
no longer do this when word is her email editor.

Thanks in advance.

The workaround is to keep the blank document open permanently. Save it as
'blank' and leave it minimised: now Word will stay up.

I just type a single space into Document1 as soon as I start Word. I use it
as a scratchpad all day and close it only when I quit Word.

That's a good way - it won't accidentally get closed without a prompt.
