My MS Word program has suddenly started to do something strange. Whenever I
try to open a Word document in My Documents or in a separate file therein I
get an error message "Windows cannot find "C:\My Documents\File.doc." Then I
have to search for the file and when I click on the found file it opens OK.
Somehow a disconnect has occurred between Word and MyDocuments. I always
have to search for the file first before I can open it. I am using Word 2000
in Windows Me on an old Inspiron 3800 Dell laptop. Can any one help me get
back to the simpler procedure of just clicking on the file in MyDocuments to
open it? Thank you.

Try reregistering Word in Windows by using File, Run and typing in

winword /r

and press enter.
