3-Create a link to the damaged document
4-Use the "Recover Text from Any File" converter
5- Open with Open and Repair Option

Also I installed SP1 for microsoft office but my problem didin't solved.
Also the I saw the topics 928282 but there isn't any solveing solution on it

I downloaded your document and opened it in Word 2000 with the
free conversion utility from Microsoft that lets earlier versions of
Word
open Word 2007 documents.

The document opened without a problem and it appeared to be complete.

Maybe this could help you?

This is wierd. I can, at the moment, see nothing wrong with your document.

Word 2007 does give the rather unhelpful error you say. Word 2003 will open
it with the compatibility pack installed. Internet Explorer is quite happy
with the xml and it looks completely normal there and inside a hex editor. I
can only assume either an error in Word, or some Word limitation being
breached.

FWIW, the error points to the closing angle bracket on a </w:tr> tag. I
tried deleting the row, and then the whole table, and it then gave an error
another 100000 bytes or so into the file - again on the closing angle
bracket of a </w:tr> tag. I have a suspicion both errors may be just
symptoms of some other problem but don't know what it may be.

If you can remember - and I don't know if it will help, I'm just looking for
clues - what was the last bit of editing you did on the file (when you were
able to open it)?

Enjoy,
Tony

Dear Neil and Tony
First off all thanks for your attention, action and reply
I didn't try using the old version of office with convertor.
I was in bad situation and could perform any action.
I used the Docx2rtf free convertor and converted my file to .rtf format and
I had to re format the file and all the extra objects like Index references
and table of context.
My problem started after completing my index part.
Dear Neil, Can you send me the file in .doc format to my E-mail please.
Best Regard
Nima

Hi Neil,

I had the same problem as Nima did and I tried using Word 2003 with the
conversion utility to open my file but failed. And I've tried everyting else
I found. Spent a whole day now trying to recover my nearly 40 hours work on
the crucial document (notes for my dissertation).

If you wouldn't mind taking a look at it, that will be a life-saving help
and will be so much appreciated. The file can be downloaded from
https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/content/user/jinglic/Notes.docx

My email address is stevenalways@gmail.com and I am looking forward to
hearing from you. Thank you so much in advance!

Yours is a completely different problem. Your notes.docx is totally blown
away. If you open it with WordPad, you will find 99% of the file is garbage.

Did you try saving this to some type of removable memory?

Hi Terry,

Thank you so much for your reply! Yes, I was saving it on a thumb drive. So
that means there is no way to get the file back to life, right?

Thanks,

Steven

Re: THe Office Open XML file XXX.docx cannot be opened because the by David

David

The error is not hard to reproduce and appears to follow the addition of an
index, but only from time to time.

Office 2003 can open these 'corrupted' files, and if they are then saved as
a .doc the files can then be re-opened in 2007. We have been unable to
reproduce the error when these are then re-saved as a docx but testing is not
exhaustive so recommend leaving the files in .doc format if possible, or
always dual saving before you close the files if you have included an index
in your document.

Provided you didn't upgrade from 2003, or you still have access to a
computer with 2003 this remains the easiest option to fix the error.
