When I delete Normal.dot, Word opens fine.
If I close and open Word without deleting Normal, the splash screen just
suits there without launching.
Then once Winword process is killed, I'm offered to open in Safe Mode on
next launch, which launches.
Yet - if Normal is deleted after each launch - Word launches just fine.
There are no add-ins loaded and I've tried all the basic stuff (repair,
reload, etc.)
Does anyone have any ideas?

Take a look at the following link to see if it helps resolve the problem.

The PC had Norton Internet Security - Uninstalled that and Problem Solved.
Thanks for the help.
