I need to have different versions of Word installed on the same machine,
and I am aware of the fact that this is not a recommended situation.

I need to have a double-click on a word document launch Word 97. I have
set up the required file assiocation to point to Word 97. This still
launches Word 2003. I have reinstalled Word 97. Same result. I have set
up one of the "Sent to" options to Word 97. Same result.

I must consider myself lucky that clicking on a Word 97 short-cut still
launches the right program!

Does anybody have any idea what registry keys I should correct to solve
this problem?

Thanks

Thanks but I was aware of this link. My problem was not with
registration issues.

It so happens that after weeks of research, I stumbled on something that
works (so far, should I probably say) : I disabled dde in the Edit and
Open dialogs of the File association with Doc.

After I tried and found that worked, I checked again the dde settings
and it had rewenabled itself! But now, clicking on a doc file does open
the correct program.

Needless to say, I do not understand why this worked but next time this
happens, it is worth a try!

Thanks.
