    - Error message when I try to open Word 2000 Every time I try to open word on my computer I get the error message "Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've tried a few things to try to fix the problem, including removing and reinstalling Office, but no luck so far.     - Groupwise and Send To Mail Recipient We have recently installed Groupwise 6.5 as our e-mail program. When we used Outlook we were able to Send To>Mail Recipient as an option. We are now unable to select that option. We can send Mail Recipient (As Attachment) but we really need to have the document in the e-mail not as an attachment and e-mail directly from Word.     - Horizontal ruler there, but unavailable Often in the middle of working with any document, the horizontal ruler becomes unusable. It's still there on the screen, but I can't use it for anything and it doesn't update when I click into different paragraphs. Often, in place of the ruler I see a portion of the screen from another application in its place. To reactivate the ruler, I have to minimize the document and restore. Or, if that doesn't work (which is quite often), I have to close the document (not necessarily Word itself) and then reopen. Any idea what may be causing this and how to stop it? Thanks for the help.     - Word 2000 fails to load I get this message on trying to open Word - whether from the Word icon on my Desktop or from an individual Word file in My Computer: "WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Wondows. You will need to to restart the program." I've used Norton Utilities System Doctor - hasn't solved the problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office Professional 2000 with Service Pack 3 but the problem remains. I don't have WinFax (which apparently can create a similar problem). I also tried deleting normal.dot - doesn't solve the problem. I've run Norton Antivirus. My system is clean according to NAV. Other programs in the MS Office suite load without problem.     - How do I close an open dialog box? When I open a document, before the document opens I receive a "!" with the following message: "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open.     - MS Word - Indexing problem I don't know you folks and we don't know if you know the answer to this question, MS Word GURUS. It involves orphan index page numbers appearing in an MS Word index. We've tried to remove these entries and their corresponding XE tags, but the regenerated-updated index still picks up the old page numbers for the removed index item/entry and continues to display them in the "new" index. Is there a fix for this problem that perhaps involves a hidden file such as a concordance file?     - Word 2003 Freezes I have Windows XP Orifessional and Office 2003 Professional, and Norton Antivirus 2004. When I work on a document in WORD 2003 and it's on a floppy disk, and I close the docment and remove the disk. and then go to file/ open to open up a document that's on the C drive.. the coumpter spins the A drive and keeps on spinning it and keeps clacking. I try to shut down WORD, but it won't close. Then I do the end task (It says Word is not responding) and it still won't close and the A drive keeps clacking and spinning. I have to shut down the whole computer in order to get it to stop. It never did this before. A window used to come up to tell me that there was no disk in the a drive, and now it doesn't come up at all. All it does is look for a disk and spin and make noise. I tried to do the repair and detect in WORD and that didn't help. Should I uninstall Office 2003 professional and reinstall it? This all started when my son was working on a Word document and he closed it and did file/open and the open box came up and he changed his mind and removed the disk and clicked cancel. The computer clacked and spinned the a drive until we had to shut down the computer. Did he break WORD? I have a new Dell 8400 computer. Please help me. Windows XP workstations do not produce this error message. In the background I can see where Word is asking for the username/Initials. I have to "End Task" to get it to clear and close. The document "is" in the folder I was trying to save it to, however; it is a lighter color icon, as if it is still open somewhere? All of a sudden, we have started getting this Microsoft Word alarm "This document contains one or more links to other files. Do you want to update this document with the data from the linked files?"     - What is "Smart UI 32-bits gateway - Reply I had the exact same thing with installation of a Xerox printer. After checking the whole thing out, I've noticed my Windows 2000 did NOT have the file "ntvdm.exe" in my winnt\system32 folder. Some trojan probably deleted it. I recovered the file from the winnt\dllcache folder (also recovered "autoexec.nt"). Simply search your entire HD for these 2 and copy them to the winnt\system32 folder. After the files where recovered, the problem disappeared. The problem occured since many propery sheets (like the printer settings) are implemented using this Smart UI library which is a 16-bit application. Since win2k is native 32-bit, the ntvdm (virtual dos machine) is needed to emulate a 16-bit environment for the execution.     - Second Try: Word 2003 'Save As' Error on XP Box My last attempt to post this wouldn't work, so here goes again... Word 2003 (part of Office 2003 Professional), SP1, hangs during simple 'Save As' operations. I'm running XP Pro, SP2. The event viewer shows the following application entry: 1. --> Fault bucket 117097750. 2. --> Hanging application WINWORD.EXE, version 11.0.6359.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. This behavior happened after I installed the eFax.com fax viewer. I started seeing 'catastrophic MAPI module error' messages during various Outlook 2003 operations. I uninstalled the eFax s/w and the MAPI error went away. I've noticed other actions that are likely symptomatic of the problem that is giving me the Word fits: 1. the log on/sign on process is now unacceptably long. The time required from machine start (I'm using a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop with a 3+ Gig processor) to the point I see the Desktop is on the order of five minutes. 2. The error log, prior to removal of eFax.com software, showed the following application errors during my first log on today: a. (Interix error from my Services for UNIX 3.5 application): Could not connect to Mapping Server at host localhost:while connecting : RPC: Remote system error - no error string available. b. (SQL Server 7.0, Desktop Edition: MSSQLServerOLAPService error): Cannot start OLAP server. Any assistance at this point is most welcome. i can't open Micosoft Word 2000 SR0-1 application because of error reporting
message stating that an error occurred and to send the report or not send it
radio button appears in the dialog box, every time i hit the send report to
the server it seems like it passing info between my computer and the server
but nothing happens and the application just closes, i have Word installed on
