    - Word 2000 - Copy and Paste not working Users at the firm are working in a Word 2000 document. They are trying to copy/cut and paste within the same document but it is not working.     - Macro error A computer of a client of mine has me baffled. I created a simple file/open macro to open a letterhead template as read-only and 9 times out of 10 she gets an error message that requests a debug. The message says 'file not found...', but the file is there, on the server, and occasionally the macro works just fine. Her macro security is set to Medium, her "trust all" under trusted sources (Word 2002) is checked, what else could possibly be interfering - just sometimes - with this simple macro? Please help.     - Missing or renamed file cannot open Word Processor I reformatted my computer and now when I try to open Microsoft Office word processor I get the message that there is a missing or renamed file.     - hyperlink within document does not work properly for word 2003 We usually have a table containing many hyperlinks placed in teh same document. We click on first hyperlink, take some actions , return to the table of hyperlinks by clicking back button and then click next hyperlink. As per our understanding, back button should retrun cursor to the originating hyperlink . It used to work propely in Word 2000.     - When I try to use a text box in normal view it switches me to pri. I am unable to use a text box in Normal View. Word (office 2003 for students) automatically switches me to Print layout view. And if I put anything in the text box in print layout view it doesn't appear on the normal view.     - Grammar check is faulty. Office 2000, 2002 better. Needs work. Proofreader tells me that the word "an" is incorrect before the word "April" as in "an Arpril shower."     - Word 2003 Crashes When I Type The Text "Confused" I am trying to find what is causing Word 2003 SP1 to crash. I can type quite a while and then Word abends, sends a message to Microsoft and then recovers. I found that the word "Confused" makes it crash the moment I type it. It appears to be a dictionary problem. I looked for office updates and found I had latest. However, it had me update my Dutch and French dictionaries. I don't have either of these in use for Word so I wondered what was up with that. Still I installed them anyway. Then found Doc on MSDN stating that there was a Bug with the Dutch Dictionary. i went to disable it and confirmed that it is not configured for my word. The spell checker does work with English.     - Problem with Find command Hi, I am using Word 2002. I have a mysterious problem with "Find" command when working with Unicode texts written in Armenian. When I try to find, for example, Armenian capital letter Da [chrw(1332)] with "Match case" option turned on, the program returns both the searched character, and the sequence of small letter Da [chrw(1380)] followed by Optional Hyphen character. This is happening with all letters of Armenian alphabet. The same happens when searching the small letters, i.e. the program returns the searched letter and the correspondent capital letter followed by Optional Hyphen sign.     - Word freezes up Dear Sir/Madam, I have just installed Office XP professional and am having some problems with Word. I downloaded the available updates from the Microsoft website. When I am working on a file it sometimes freezes up and when I open the task manager I see two files the same with neither responding. Sometimes it lasts a few seconds then returns to normal, but at other times I have to wait so long I close down word and reopen the file. The only apparent difference is that each has a different icon. I have checked to see if I have two versions of Word installed, but cannot seem to find two. Any ideas?     - Word 2000 doc read only, but it isn't open! Hi all, At some stage in the past 2 weeks while I was away, a doc on the office network was accessed, and there must have been a crash on the Word 2000 system at the time this doc was open. A small 1kb temp file was created back in Feb so this is when I think this happened. Not entirely sure who was using it, but small pool of suspects. Result is that when I try to open this doc now, it thinks that it is still in use at another computer on the network, and will only open in 'read only' mode. * Windows Explorer will not shift or rename this doc * also checked file properties to make sure 'read only' not set, * nor will the backup work on it (it sends an error message about it also). Nobody has this doc still open, I checked, not even as a recovered file. I have managed to copy this file to another location for safe keeping, so all I have to do is delete this file somehow, or somehow tell it to close. Any suggestions on how to do this?     - can't erase horizontal rules I've found that by typing "======" or "------" followed by a carriage return, Word 2000 automatically inserts a horizontal rule. Great, but for some reason these rules can be impossible to delete. (Try it). The problem is more prevalent in complicated documents. Of course, I can type control-z immediately after the auto-insert to undo it, but what if I want to delete it later? The rule is not a drawing object, and it is *not* possible to select it. The behavior of these horizontal rules is unpredictable. Occasionally it does work to select text before and after them, then delete. Sometimes some other methods work too, but nothing works consistently. I'm working on a document which has a number of such horizontal rules, which I want to keep. I've got auto-formatting turned off, so in general it won't insert new rules. But still, if I rearrange text in the document, it sometimes automatically inserts an unwanted horizontal rule and I can't delete it. Sometimes it works to drag the rule up or down--it may (or may not) suddenly disappear. Sometimes, but not always, it works to cut the text between the unwanted rule and the next one I want to keep and paste it before the unwanted rule. Any suggestions? Thanks!     - Use Word (and all Office appl.) over unstable connections Hi! I have problem with Word 2000 & 2003 (and all Office 2000/2003 application). I can open a document over our network but when I save my file I get messages like "File write protected" or "Cannot find drive" We have figured out that our network connection to fileserver (SAN) is bad, it looses connection just for a fraction of second (Firewall problem, we think), but that is enough for Word and other Office application to lose connection to documents. When the error is shown I can throu Windows Explorer browse to my file. But when saving in Word the same error appear. During my work I can see, when saving works, lots of tempfiles is created.     - Word 2003 always tries to reinstall at initial open I recently upgraded from Word 97 to Word 2003; I kept both versions on my computer. Whenever I initially open Word 2003, it tries to run Install again. I always hit Cancel and it gives me an error message saying a dialogue box was open or something, and I need to run Repair; I ignore that and everything opens and runs fine. I'd really like to stop these automatic attempts by the program to run Install when I first open it, though.     - Help!! Odd behaviour - track changes Word 2002/2003??? I recieved a document from a client yesterday which seems to be without tracked changes. When searching for tracked changes Word claims that there aren´t any. When accepting all changes word claims that there aren´t any. Track changes is not active in the document. However - If i place the cursor in a numbered list and press Enter a tracked change appears. It says that Mr XYZ has applied a format change 1 jan 2005. I may then accept this as with any normal change. My own change (the Enter) is not tracked. If I turn track changes on and press enter I´ll see both my change and the Mr XYZ change. It seems possible to turn changes on - do a change and then accept all and the behavior stops. But - how is it possible to "find" old changes in the document like this? The client has Office 2003 Sp1, I have run the MS cleansweep fuction through the document and it didn't find any changes (but the behavior stopped after this).I also tried to repair the document but Word found no errors.     - How do I enable "Add to Dictionary" ? I have searched the net far and wide, but no-one seems to address this issue. I have located the Custom.dic file, but it is only 1KB, certainly not the dictionary file I access. I have reinstalled Office 2003 and searched the disk. I used to add words to the dictionary all the time, but now that option is grayed when I right-click a "misspelled" word. I was even willing to purchase or download a dictionary from the net, but my Google search bore no such results. I do have access to the Encarta 2003 dictionary, but I see no way to access it through word, let alone add to it.     - Printing large document slow in Word 2003 but fast in Word 97 Hi, We have a large document created by a merge that is greater than 5000 pages and prints very slow with Word 2003, but when printing with Word 97, it prints much faster.     - EZP Icon Everytime I close Word it asks me if I would like to save the changes to EZ Photo. I say no. But then when I open Word again a icon is placed on the options bar (the same bar as print, copy, paste etc.) that says EZP. Everytime I open and close another EZP icon is there.     - Font color icon in custom toolbar does no work right When I open Word 2000 (Win XP Home), the combobox for the font color icon in any toolbar cannot be opened. The icon itself works, but I can not change its color. If I customize and remove and replace the icon, the combobox can be opened again for the remainder of the session. After I go to Format -- Forn and change the font color, the font color icon combobox can again be opened for the rest of the session. When I close and open Word, the combobox cannot be opened again.     - Possible Security Breach In Word 2003 Speech Tool I run WindowsXP Home SP2, have Office 2003, use ZoneAlarm firewall, Norton anti-virus, and run SpyBot one month and AdAware the next month. When I am using Word 2003, and activate the "text-to-speech" tool, it must somehow open up my computer to the outside world. This morning, while the "speech" tool was active, someone actually started to add text to my document, adding in whole sentences and changing my text. When I closed the "speech" tool, it stopped. I then deleted the "bogus" text from my document. It has happened before when the "speech" tool was active but I more or less dismissed it as some weird happening that didn't mean all that much. Ctrl-Z to undo or go back to the backup file. (You do have a backup, right?)
