Hi Cheryl,
It could be that you are seeing the open Word documents in a Multiple
Document Interface (MDI). They are all open but not displaying as a
separate task in the Windows Taskbar (SDI). Check the Window menu to
see if you have multiple documents listed.
If you want to return to Single Document Interface (SDI) then go to
Tools/Options/View and turn on "Windows in the Taskbar".
