I have Microsoft XP Professional Office 2002. Until a few
days ago in Word I could keep as many documents opened at
the same time as I wanted. Suddenly I can only keep one
document open at a time. After opening an initial
document and I want to keep it open while I open a second
document, either a new one or previously saved one,
whatever I am trying to open takes the place of the
existing opened document and I can only have one document
open at a time.

Hi Cheryl,

It could be that you are seeing the open Word documents in a Multiple
Document Interface (MDI). They are all open but not displaying as a
separate task in the Windows Taskbar (SDI). Check the Window menu to
see if you have multiple documents listed.

If you want to return to Single Document Interface (SDI) then go to
Tools/Options/View and turn on "Windows in the Taskbar".
