When I open MSWord XP, word wants to access the Internet without any
prompting on my part. I do not want MSWord to access the Internet without
prompting.

For starters, press F1 to get the generic Help task pane. At the bottom,
under "See also," click on Online Content Settings and clear the box for
"Search online content when connected." (These directions are for Word 2003;
you may need to try something a little different for Word 2002.)

Word 2002 help tast pane different, did not find similar settings.
