Insert-symbol window won't accept mouse commands. What's wrong?

After opening the insert symbol window in word, it won't accept mouse
commands, so I have to tab around it and use the arrow keys. This is a recent
problem, and various system restores haven't fixed it.

If you can click on Insert | Symbol, and see the symbols, but
cannot select one with your mouse, it's usually because the
x-mouse feature in TweakUI is enabled.

Hi, I have the same problem with both MS Word 2002 and 2003. It was traced to
the TweakUI x-mouse feature being enabled. Any workaround or fix except
disabling the x-mouse feature? Microsoft should be informed about this bug.
What is the best way of submitting bugs.

, "[PowerToys] are not part of Windows and are not supported by
Microsoft."

helped. In fact, by letting another application window, or even the Taskbar
(in auto hide mode), take the focus before the Symbol Dialog Box, then the
focus works ok in the Symbol Dialog Box. I have the time set to 200 ms for
the x-mouse in TweakUI and the Autoraise feature is enabled too. Again, this
workaround is quite simple as I simply move the cursor to the Taskbar before
I select a character. Thanks!!
