i have a couple of users who have highlighted an issue in Word 2003
that is more of an annoyance to them rather than a problem but have
asked me if it can be fixed.

When they open a new document and want to place the right or left
indent arrow exactly on a number or marker between a number it always
lands to the left or right of the selected location.

I thought that there may have been a "snap to" option i could select
but I have searched all the settings in Word 2003 and cannot find
anything that will rectify this problem.

This only happens on new documents they are creating as they have
opened other documents on the file server created by other users and
they are able to move and locate the indents exactly as required on
these documents.

Can anyone help.

Thanks in advance

JK

There's a known bug in some versions (including Word 2003, I think) that
sometimes places tabs and indents just a bit "off," but where the default
settings are can in fact be affected by the drawing grid (Draw | Grid on the
Drawing toolbar).

Thank you for you reply

I have turned off Snap objects to grid on the drawing grid toolbar and
this has resolved the problem

Once again many thanks

You can also override the snap-to-grid option by holding down the Alt key
when you are dragging an object or inserting a tab on the ruler.
