I've been using Word 2000 with no problem for over a year.
It now gives an illegal operation error whenever I quit
the program.
The operating system is windows 98.
The only change I've made recently is to upgrade my Norton
ant-virus software.
I'm not experiencing any problems with any other Microsoft
office software.
What's the best course of action

Thank you.

NAV is probably the culprit. Try disabling the Office Plug-in.

I'm having the same problem. This is the error message
that I get:
Winword
This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down.
If I click on details, this is what I get:
WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module USER32.DLL
at 0187:bff558c6.
Is this the same message that you are getting???
