I hid "my document" folder without a password. When I went back in to unhide
"my
documents" folder there were 4 files that looked like this;
~$tober 12 (1mb of file October 12)
~WRL0002.tmp (exact copy of file October 12 but renamed)
~$Oct 20 (Oct 20 -1mb)
~$ec 1-2 (Dec 1-2 -1mb)
3 files were only 1mb. I'm just wondering why these are here? I had not
accessed these files recently and it seems strange they were the only ones in
a folder with about 20 other documents that this happened too. And I have
about 20 other folders in the my document folder. Could they have been opened
although I had them hidden and that is why the extra files? I have never had
this problem before although it is the first time I have hid files. Any
incite would be appreciated.

These seem to be temporary files that Word (or Outlook) normally creates.
However, they should be deleted when Word (and Outlook) are closed. See this
MSKB article that explains how Word uses temp files:
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=211632

If you have had a Word crash, it leaves these files abandoned. See this
article that tells you what to do:

The temp files seem to have been hanging around for a long time. You must
have opened them - even if accidentally - on those dates for temp files to
have been create. If you right-click on the files and selected Properties,
there may be some clue as to why they appeared with those dates.
