Password protection in itself shouldn't cause corruption, if that's what you
are asking.
However, I'm afraid that your document might be lost. :-(
If it is a Word 2007 (*.docx) file, you could try the following on a *copy*
of the file (which is not password protected): Rename it to a *.zip
extension, open it and extract the file wordDocument.xml. See if you can
read the text found in that file.
