Hi,

my heading numbering worked well until it has changed and I can not
see what.
Before:
Chapter 18
18.1 Heading
18.1.1 Heading
18.1.1.1 Heading
18.1.1.1.1 Heading
18.1.1.1.1.1 Heading
Now:
Chapter 18
18.1 Heading
1.1.1 Heading
1.1.1.1 Heading
1.1.1.1.1 Heading
18.1.1.1.1 Heading

I looked at StyleFormatting - Options - Numbering - Outlet -
Customize, but look the same.

I have cut and past some chapters as this happened.
I use Word 2003, the document is in RTF-format because I can not find
the error with: style 1 and text box.

Thanks for all help

I tried to rename normal.dot, did not help
I tried manually to set format "style formatting", but the numbering
if any did not follow the chapter number etc.

Thanks for any help

What happens if you select the problem paragraphs and then press
Ctrl+Q?

Control Q, or Control A, F9 results in this wrong numbering.

That indicates that something is wrong in the numbering scheme. Try
setting it up as explained at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. In
the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box, delete the contents of
the "Number format" box and recreate it for the problem level.
