Why doesn't the inserted footnote number automatically appear as superscript
in the text and below? Surely, I don't have to click on each number and
change it!. Using Word 2007 on Vista

Footnote Reference is a character style. It is formatted as Superscript by
default in all versions of Word. If this is not the case in your copy of
Word 2007, you may need to modify the style.
