    - Multiple parts of text repeat print throughout doc (Word 2000) Running Word 2000 on Windows 98SE. All Office/Windows patches. My doc is in 'Outline' view form, and on-screen it's fine. But when I print the doc out, random portions of the text repeat themselves (i.e. print out more than the one time they should) once each time throughout the doc. Example: a section of text prints on one page fine, but the same section re-prints again on the next page (with the test of the doc's remaining text STARTING to continue on printing, EXCEPT then ANOTHER different portion of text will print out again a second time on the folowing page. This double-printing repeats throught the entire doc. Doc was fine in the first very uses, but then this error cropped up and been here since. All other docs seem to print fine, so it must be corrupted .doc file?? I bought/ran WordFIX from Cimaware Software which is supposed to fix corrupted WOrd docs, but it hasn't helped.     - I need to sort my entire Word document I am trying to sort alphabetically by last name in a word document. However, I can only do that by page. For example page 1 is a-z and page 2 is a-z.     - Mail Merge toolbar buttons disabled We have a mail merge document that opens in Office 2000 with the mail merge toolbar available and all buttons are enabled. However, when we upgrade to Office 2003 and open that same document, the mail merge toolbar comes up but all the buttons are disabled except for the "Main Document Setup" and "Open Data Source" buttons. Has anyone seen this before with upgrading to Office 2003? Is mail merge so different between Office versions that 2003 cannot recognize the document as a mail merge document created in previous versions of Office?     - Word file to big - how to repair? several word file written in Word2003 have 200+ pages and 5+MByte. Many screen shots and tables included. Even Word 2003 with SP1 cannot open them.     - Office documents takes lot of time to save We are using Outlook Web Access(OWA), for accessing our mails thru web browser. When user is clicking on any attachment (.doc, xls, .ppt,etc)in mail, it opens in web browser(Internet Explorer). When he click file "Save As" option to save the file on local disk, the "Save As" dialouge box takes lot of time (approx. 5 to 10 min.)to come. What could be the reason ? Help is needed.     - Word 2003 crashes intermittently away from network Apologies if my previous attempt which was too long- winded message got posted! Word 2003 on my notebook crashes intermittenly when away from my home wireless network, going into an endless loop of crashing, coming up again, offering to post an error message to Microsoft, and crashing, so fast that I cannot stop it, but have to kill it in Task Manager. Microsoft's error report said the problem was my HP 5550 printer driver and so I downloaded the latest driver from HP and connected the printer to my notebook, rather than across the network, and I thought it was fixed, but when I was using Word away from home recently, the problem returned.     - Terrible pause when moving between files Hi, I've consulted many people but can't get an answer on this problem. Is there any expert there who can help? Whenever I open a new file, or switch windows between WORD files, the program stalls/pauses for about 5-8 seconds. No other functions (or programs) stall or pause in this manner. Because I always have 2 or 3 files open, it's extremely annoying but I can't explain it. I don't think it's a memory issue because I've done the same in Excel with huge files without a problem.     - (Product) has encountered a problem..... Hello, I have a problem that occurs not only in Word, but in every other office 2003 program as well. A user has had HP Scanjet 8250 installed on their XP box that has caused their MSWord2003 to display the following error when MSWord is launched and when saving a newly created file (NOT opening a file): "The macro cannot be found of has been disabled because of your Macro security settings." The user's macro settings were ALREADY as "Medium," and Outlook was closed the entire time of these attempts (so Outlook's use of Word as its email editor was not a factor). Some documentation states to delete all *.tmp files in order to "free" the Normal.dot file. But before I do invasive surgery, I'd like to see if there is something that I'm missing. Did the HP Scanjet 8250 installation cause this? Is it not compatible with Word (Scanjet must cooperate with Word in order to provide the option to scan directly into Word)? Thanks for any help.     - Normal.dot problem I'm opening a word document via an Access 2000 Application. When I try to close the word file I receive a message telling I want to save the file with another name. I say 'NO', I receive another message telling me that "the file is currently in use by another application or user (c:\Document and Settings\...\Normal.dot". And when I press on the OK button it displays the Save As screen inviting me to save the Normal.dot file.... The problem is, before closing the word file, I'm invited to answer to 4 or 5 questions.!     - Smart-Paste Avoids Freezing, Stealth Uglification Regular paste (ctrl-V) isn't an option in the following situations: 1. Copy from a webpage to MS Word; 2. Copy from MS Word to Outlook Express plaintext message composition window. In the case of #1, your computer is liable to freeze for a prolonged period of time as MS does something clever to convert formats. As for #2, that paste operation arouses OE bugs that have been known for years. The plaintext composition window, despite being "plaintext," invisibly retains unwanted formatting that results in messages being severely uglified -- but only at the instant of SEND, when it's too late to stop it. Before discovering THE BETTER WAY, my fingers had become quite agile in making rapid detours to the format-free oasis of Notepad for the purpose of delousing text. To paste from Word to OE, for example, I would: - copy to clipboard (in Word) - switch to Notepad - paste - select all - copy to clipboard - switch to OE - paste But now, a utility recommended to me on the microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress newsgroup has changed this routine to: - copy to clipboard (in Word) - switch to OE - smart-paste I'm still trying to get used to it. To top it off, smart-paste gives you a nice confirmation sound effect. The utility is PureText, available for free at http://www.stevemiller.net/puretext/ . The smart-paste keystroke is Windows-V by default. "Smart-paste" is my word, not stevemiller's. In a simpler world, formatted text would be smart and 1960's-style ASCII text would be dumb. But with buggy software, less is more, and smart becomes dumber. I have only a tiny quibble which is really just academic since it makes no practical difference to me. It'd be a bit smarter if the smart-paste operation left the clipboard unchanged, rather than stripping its contents of formatting. P.S.     - Office XP Word will not close When we try to close Office XP SBE Word w/SP3, the file does close but the application will not close. We receive a fatal error report. We have to open task manager and end the Winword Process in order for Word to close. We have tried a repair and a uninstall/install.     - Word Global Template disabled on Exit Hi, I have MS Word 2003 which we installed a GoldMine/Word Link Addin (Goldmine is a CRM application. The link allows goldmine to launch word templates.) However, it is always disabled. Whenever I go into Tools-->Templates & Add-ins, I see that the GMLink.dot is there, but the check mark is not checked. If I check it then the link works fine. If I exit Word. Next time I come back in it is unchecked again. I have never seen this symptom before, we have 40 other computers which works absolutely fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and I played with the Normal.dot file. I removed it and renamed it and did everything, but it seems like that the setting of Word is not being saved when exit. Other Details: There is also another add-in along in that list. It is the Adobe PDF Maker. The PDF Maker add-in is always enabled, when I disable it, it comes back on restart of Word. I tried removing the PDFMaker.dot, still the Goldmine.dot would not stay enabled. The MSWord is the Dutch version, running in Windows XP (also in Dutch.) Can anybody please help? sI have selected the "Page X of Y" autotext for a document footer. In Print
Layout view the footer reads "Page 1 of 7" but when the document is printed
the footer read "Page 1 of 1" etc. I am using Word 2000.
